My DS is 4 weeks old and is exclusively bf. we have plenty of wet and dirty nappies. Over the last 2 weeks he has started with a bit of colicky trapped wind/constipation, but nothing major at first. Bought infacol and have been using it for nearly 2 weeks. He sometimes gets a bit of the pain during the day/evening but generally ok. However after the 1am ish night feed he seems to get tummy ache and cry lots, about 30 mins or so after the feed. Last night I was up until 4.30am with him. Anyone know of an alternative to infacol? or would a colic based formula and bottle help? Kind of think this could make it worse as formula would be harder to digest but I dont know? thanks

Hi, sorry you are having such a hard time colicky babies are just miserable and you can forget what a bundle of joy they actually are.
Are you sure its colic? Colic is much more typical in the evenings than through the night. It might be worth talking to your health visitor if you are in the uk.
Have you started eating anything different?
There are no real limitations on your diet when you are BFing but think about what you have had that might be upsetting your LO. Chilli is a common cause.
You could try Colisynth granules (homeopathic) or coleef drops( help break down lacase).
Sorry for more questions than answers but hope something here might help. x

mamababa - shame you and your baby are suffering
When you say he has trapped wind, what makes you think that?
What happens if you just snuggle your baby into bed with you after that feed and fall asleep with him, feeding again if he wakes?
Thanks both. Definitely wind as during and after the crying who legs pulled up and bloated tummy etc, does and load of bottom burps, fills the nappy etc. when passed, straight to sleep. I appreciate it's prob not colic in the truest sense of the word it's just those sort of symptoms. Last night he was fine
HV useless kind of suggested he'll grow out of it which he will but I was hoping for an alternative suggestion to in facial. Will look at coiled, thanks
Have also avoided spicy food etc but doesn't seem to make a difference. Thanks for your advice ladies

Hi, my daughter had dreadful colic, tried loads with her. Dr browns bottles with dentinox colic drops and hungry baby formula worked the best for her. Although she was bottle fed from day one so not sure how you could work this if breast feeding. Hope it works out soon. If its any consolation colic usually disappears after 3 months anyway. My son is currently suffering with reflux so having a nightmare myself too x
Gripe water worth a try too.
Hope it gets better soon
