Not sure if this is the right place or not for this - hopefully someone can help!
Since he was about 11 months old DS has been on cows milk, our current 'routine' is he has it in a cup in the morning with breakfast and then in a bottle at bedtime but we want to get him having it from a cup soon. Recently he's really gone off milk and only has about 3oz a day. Even though we give him lots of cheese and yoghurts etc i'm worried he's not getting enough dairy. He nearly always finished his milk when he was on formula so i'm wondering if I should go back to it for a bit so he gets the nutrients he needs. I don't like going backwards but he isn't having much at all and it's starting to worry me a bit. WWYD?

Well there's not really much nutritional value in milk other than calcium which it sounds like he gets enough of anyway. I wouldn't be worried about him getting enough milk provided he gets enough water & eats well otherwise. He doesn't really need it. No harm in giving him a follow on milk appropriate for his age - that would be more nutritious than milk anyway. Incidentally, a dietician friend told me the whole drive to give kids lots of milk is a bit of a dairy industry beat up...

Personally I wouldn't swap back to formula, but if you are worried could you offer milk more times in the day, say with his afternoon snack? Another way could be to make sure he gets things like Cauliflour cheese or rice pudding on a regular basis.
There are some guidelines here on how much milk he should be having. Don't forget that you can include yogurt and cheese in that too.
If you are worried about his calcium, there is a list of calcium rich foods here

Ah thanks Jilted. I didn't really want to go back to formula but I do worry about him.
