Did you have a 'what am I doing' moment before you started blogging?

Hi all. I'm not part of the network (yet :) ) but wanted to ask a quick question, I hope that's ok?

I'm in the process of setting up my first blog, which I'm really excited about, however just today I've been having a few 'what on earth am I doing?' thoughts. Mostly wondering if it will be any good, will I find enough to write about, will people actually want to read it etc etc...

Just wondered if anyone else had these thoughts before your blogs went live?

Thanks.

No, not really. I should have done though as I had NO idea what I was letting myself in for! ;)

No, not before, but I occaisionally have moments NOW where I think "what the hell am I doing..." because it is so "public" now, and I have really outed myself (mental health ishoos) which has really pushed me out of my comfort zone, but I felt very strongly that I had information that I wanted to share and get out there. So far I've had nothing but positives from it.

I agree that blogging's very positive too. I wouldn't ever think 'what on earth am I doing', but I'd probably give some thought to the types of topics / opinions that I share.

Most bloggers nowadays seem fairly open about themselves - so people use real photographs / real first names (it might sound daft to point that out, but five years ago everyone seemed to have a secret identity and a name that was more like a CB handle).

I just assume now that everything I write will be read by everyone I know - boss, partner, lollipop lady etc. Not that they're actually in the slightest bit interested, but you know what I mean.

Yes I did, but I took the decision to write it anonymously so I didn't have enough at stake to worry about it. I didn't know about the whole blogging community before I started. If I did, it would probably have put me off, but I didn't and now I love it. It's ace. Start one, do it anonymously, and then abandon if it's not for you. Nothing lost. Good luck.

Hi all, thanks for your responses and sorry for my very delayed reply. Christmas was a bit mental and then I launched the blog!
All going well so far and glad I finally did it as feedback has been really good. Louvert - think some of your points are very valid re. what to share. The type of blog I'm writing needs to be fairly open, using the real me etc... so it's all out there now!

Thanks again for commenting and good luck with all of your blogs in 2012.
