my baby daughter is 6 days old, shes my 5th baby...the past couple of days she has been vomiting up quite a bit of her feeds..not projectile but it has been coming out of her nose...tonight she has done it 3 times in the past hour, but seems well in herself...shes been very mucousy and has been bringing lots of mucous up to and also now has conjunctivitis poor thing...

so should I be worried..dont want to seem like a neurotic mother but Im a bit scared that she might choke

My DD would do this too when she was this age. My DS (1st baby) never did it - he was so unsicky. DS every evening we'd put her down and about 8.30/9 she'd start to splutter and the milk would come up through mouth and nose. Like all these things she grew out of it but i remember spending quite a few of those first few months with her slightly propped up in bed.

DD is now 15 months and tbh was a dribbly puker for her first 4/5 months so would never projectile but would dribble milk most of the day. Whenever she's had a bad cough/cold we invariably get a few day when she chunders up her evening feed (we've just got over one of those. It's gradually getting better.

I suspect with the nose thing at this age is their throats are so small and there is probably a lot of gunk too that there's nowhere much to go.

I know they're a bit revolting but have you tried one of those nose mucous sucky things. You pop it in and can suck up (you don't swallow it !(!) ) and I found it really helped when she was quite congested.

HTH's a bit

ahh..thanks..never tried the nose things..might have to get one..she was 3 weeks early and because I had diabetes was told she would be more like a prem baby so I guess its just to be expected..horrible though to see milk spluttering out of her nose

My dd was v sicky and sicked up through her nose all the time. She was pretty good at clearing her own nose - she used to sneeze!

Ds never did that but at nigt feeds lying down my milk would come out so far he'd end up with half of it streaming out his nose. Think they are so little at that age they can't handle much fluid in that area iyswim.
