Hi, I was so proud of my daughter the other day. She'll be 5 in march and has a severe speech disorder and some other developmental delays, but has always been a really loving, caring child. Anyway, her grandma has a cat who my daughter is terrified of. She has quite a phobia of cats, so we keep the cat away from her. The other day when we were at her Grandmas house, the cat escaped from the bedroom and came in to the living room where we were. Lucy freaked out and was trying to climb up me etc, until I managed to get the cat out and close the door. Then we heard some scratching on the door and Lucy started crying again, so I said "It's not the cat, it's puppy" (what she calls her grandmas dog who she loves) She looked really worried and then sheopened the door to let him in, even though she was scared to do so because of the cat. I was very supprised that she did that, even though she was scared, she wanted to help the dog.
It was really uplifting to think that although she's struggeling developmentally, I think there's an amazing personality forming, which is more important than anything else.

awww well done to your DD it may be the start of her facing her fear with the cat too so a big step

Thank you, I didn't think anyone else would be awake! I'm at work.
She is a little poppet, I'm very lucky to have her. I hope she will eventually get over her fear of cats, it makes it hard when we visit people with cats.

Aww, that sounds so brave of her.

I've seen your posts about your dd before and I always think that it really shows in your posts how much you adore her (I know that most people adore their children, myself included but I can really see how proud of her you are and so you should be).

That's lovely - a real milestone for you both! My dd has difficulties too and I often feel that these moments are so amazing when you know how hard your lo has to work to achieve them

It is wonderful seeing developmental milestones,isn't it?

dd recently signed @More swing please@ when at the park,it was the first time she had put 3 signs together,was ecstatic!

That's great MavisEnderby, when a child is struggeling and it seems everything is looking bleak, if they supprise you by doing something new, it's like the sun comming out.
I have been singing "you are my sunshine" to her since she was born and it's true, she really is.
