I quite like this at the moment.
What do you think? Is it a fashionable, popular name? Do you know of any?

It's nice but it is quite fashionable, along with Alfie/Alfred, Wilf/Wilfred, Freddie etc..

The NN Albie is a bit the C word round here so I would go for Bertie instead.

I know one; baby twins called Albert and Frederick. I think it's fantastic. I like names that can be chopped up (Al, Bert, etc).

I know of no children but I live in the North, where we take a while to cotton-onto new trends.

I like it v much. I might have used it but our surname starts with an 'A'.

My lovely dad was an Albert. Never Albie or Bertie, its better left alone, short enough already.

Think Al or Bert as a nickname, not tyhat keen on Albie as a bit like Alfie/Archie which are very common now.

I think it's a nice name depending on the kind of area you live in. If you live in an area which is full of common well-known names that aren't too 'out there' or seen as unusual, I can see an Albert being picked up terribly at school. I know one and feel sorry for him already because I just know he's going to have a tough time at school being teased by other kids.

Where I live, it's not really a name people would go 'oh that's so lovely!' but that's only because it's not a name that's heard very often amongst the youngest generation here.

I know one (up north). He's a Bert as well. Not keen personally - I still think it sounds like an actual old man rather than old man chic.

this is the only name both of us like for our baby - flavour unknown - due in 5 weeks...was my great grandads name, loved him, and love the nn as well, Albie the best. am still a bit wary though re teasing and can't imagine a baby called Albert - old manninsh...but can imagine an Albie...

There is a baby Albert on skins so I do think it must have a certain coolness about it

One of the names we're thinking of is Albie and I'm definitely coming around to the idea of Albert. At first I thought it was too old-mannish, but now I think it's kind of cool!

I've got a 6 year old Albert and I live in the North. I also know of a baby Albert.

It's fab, never regretted it for a moment. Go for it.

And I do get lovely comments from people.

Someone did say to my Mum 'I suppose that's what people call babies these days'. But from someone with a son called Russell, that's a compliment.

I have an Albert NN Albie (2 1/2). DH and I love it and have had loads of compliments

Has your Albert had any probems at school
because of his name, is that something you are worried about? Some people think its too old man like. I love it by the way.

No, no problems - I don't see why he would have problems. Little kids don't see it as an old mans name, he's probably the only person they've ever met called Albert.

I still prefer other 'bert' names more, but since watching The Young Victoria have quite warmed to it.

I'm another who dislikes Albie nick name, definitely in full or Bertie.
