Amaia - how would you pronounce it?

Am intrigued as I love the way I would pronounce it but want to see if you all suggest the the same?

I'd probably go for A-may-a, but I might say A-my-a...

I looked after a girl called Amaaya, that's how her name was pronounced.

I would never go for a name that it difficult to pronounce,if you are thinking of it, she will have a lifetime of explaining it and spelling it.

Thing is I have a fairly recognized name but STILL have to spell it out sometimes. I figured if it is short it doesnt matter so much unlike Tallulah for example?? Does anyone think it is pretty? I would pronounce it at Ah -my -ya

be warned though no matter how often you tell people her name they will still pronounce it wrong! people sometimes call her Mia pronounced mee-ya which annoys me! i always say think of how you would say thai and it rhymmes with that!

I think it is a very pretty girly name and wouldnt rule it out if I ever had a girl

I first came across it in the Basque country, it's a very popular name there, along with Ainara, (I-na-ra)which I also love, but I don't think you could get away with it here as people would pronounce in I-naah-ra, but I think Amaia does work in the uk, I think most people would guess the pronunciation right.
