What do you think of these boys names?

Dear all, I am really struggling to think of boys names, we played a game the other day going through the alphabet to try and come up with a few suggestions, here they are: Charlie, Freddie, George, Jack or Jake, Max. Spoke to a few friends the other day and they said what Freddie Mercury, what a Charlie, they are all so old fashioned. What do you guys think? Girls names are so much easier.

I like all of them... Jack would be out for me because of its popularity. Jake does have a tweenies connection which put me off a bit. Charlie and Freddie are both nice but I like full names on the birth cert and I'm not massively keen on Frederick and Charles

Love George and Max though

Its so personal, but these are quite solid, ordinary names. Which is fine - I mean not everybody wants a Tarquin or Dweezil!

Not keen on George though - its an old mans name.

I like George best, now I would never have thought that pre-dd but she has a doll called George and obv. there's the Peppa Pig connection whoch means that I've heard the name loads over the past couple of years and it's really grown on me.

I really like George, I always look forward to meeting a George, so far they've all been lovely. .

Jake's a nice name too.

The others are too popular and Max is the most popular name for a dog in the UK so personally i'd leave that one.

They're all fine IMO. I know a Freddie and Merrcury has never crossed my mind. Ditto Charlie/What a right Charlie.

Jake and Max are my faves.

I like most of those names but some are quite popular (round our way anyway).

2 Maxes DS2 yr, 2 Charlies DD yr, quite a few Jacks and Jakes.

Not quite in the Oliver/James league tho.

Least popular of those prob Freddie and George, both fine names .

George is nice cause you can't shorten it and everyone can spell and pronounce it. It was going to be DD's name (we changed our minds by DS2)

Its so difficult choosing a boys name, I also like Oliver but all the Oliver's we have known have been naughty little boys and that has put my hubby off

Jack, Jake, Max and Charlie for me! Although Jack is getting way too popular IMO. Still a lovely name.

don't like any of them I'm afraid but I prefer the full names anyway.

All solid, unobjectionable names. I too would use a full name on birth certificate, and have abbreviation for every day use.

I like Charlie and Max the best.

I love Charles - totally under-used IMO and Charlie is so cute for a little boy; but Charles is just so distinguished for a grown-up

go for Charlie (Charles on birth cert, obv!)

Personally prefer Jack and Jake.

I prefer to give the full name and use the nickname. So Charles, Frederick, Alfred, Wilfred, Maxwell, Maxamus, Maximilian.
