Baby names

What do you think of this girls name? Also DH and I need some inspiration for boys names.

We have come up with Amy Louise for a girl this time. DD is called Erica May, so we wanted something that 'goes' IYSWIM.

Also we just cannot think of many boys names at all. I do like the name William but DH said only as a middle name. Please could you give us some suggestions.

Also any suggestions for girls names are appreciated.

TIA

I have a Max (imilian - but that is used when he is naughty and we can't wait till he gets married so everyone wil laugh at him) - very masculine as we have a one sylable surname and it suits his rough and tumble blokey persona - poor sod is only 4!

Also like:

Elliot (DS middle name but as DD Harriet would be mad to have a Harriet and an Elliot)
Oscar
Felix
Tobias

Alex goes well with William and is cool at any age, popular-ish but not too popular and everyoine can spell it!

Love Amy by the way - have always thought Alice, Sophie, Lucy, Phoebe and Grace are similar kinds of names for some reason.

lol clarebear, my middle name is also Louise and it was DH that suggested it as a middle name for another girl.

I love the name grace for a girl also, it was my great grandmothers name but DH doesn't like it

I adore the name Oscar I have mentioned it to DH and he hasn't vetoed it as such so I may keep working on him.

MadameCas, You don't hear of many Maximilian's do you, I love the way it feels when you say the name Maaaximilian. I think it will have to go in my top 5 of boys names.

ClareB, DH and I both suggested Charlie to each other but then realized that with our surname it would just not work

YAY.......I think we've cracked it.

Well, DH had a shufty last night at the names suggested and he is really set on Ben for a boy, I like Ben so as long as I get to have William for the middle name I am happy lol.

So we have;

Amy Louise, for a girl

and

Ben William, for a boy. Not sure if we should use Benjamin as a full name and just shorten it to Ben. I think Benjamin William sounds better than Ben William, what do you think.

i agree it does sound better as Benjamin William

you dont often use middle names though ,so can shorten to Ben for everyday use

I don't think Amy goes well with Erica because both names start and end with a vowel sound and slide into one another aurally ie:

aminerica
ericanamy

Not keen on Amy as it is quite popular and Erica is quite unusual.

How about Jessamy, Amelie, Amelia, Anica, Aminta or Amira?

I'd go for Benjamin William if it were me - it flows better. There are few occasions anyone says your full name but they tend to be public so it might as well sound good. No doubt he'll be Ben most of the time.

Benedict William also sounds good ...

DP and I are failing horribly to find a girls name that we love. Baby is due in less than three weeks...we have agreed on Maisie, but neither of us LOVE it. However, we both do REALLY like Amelie. A friend has a daughter with this name and until now we haven't considered it for that reason. Then last night in a truelly hormonal moment I decided that this name was meant to be and no other name will ever do!

So, what do we do? The friend isn't a close friend, we see them about 4 times a year if that. but I would hate to annoy them. What do I do?

Oh use the name you love.

Friends of ours just had a baby and called it the same as my DS1 - i was just flattered that they obviously thought we had good taste in names.

Different if you saw each other all the time as would get confusing.
