What do we think about the name Arden

and what middle names would go nicely with it?

This is for my very good friend, currently living in Switzerland but eventually moving to the UK, her DH's surname starts with 'N' though. Would you think this as a problem?

Where in the UK will she live? Accent may be important here. I'm practising it in Lancashire, Scouse, Birmingham and generic SE atm moment and it's not working well. Two nns together might be tricky.

I would think it's for a girl though the pp obviously thinks otherwise! I have a dc whose name ends with the first letter of our surname. It wasn't my first choice but it's not ever been a problem

I like it! I was going to say Arden James too, or Arden Christopher.

That it sounds too much like hard on for my liking.

The name will be for a girl and they're moving to London.

I liked it (for a boy) until someone on here said it sounded too much like hard on

Oops! Blush

I don't know why I automatically thought 'boy'!

I love it and really wanted to use it until I told a friends Mum about it and she said " people will call him Hard on" Grin I couldn't get that out of my head, so decided to go for something else.

Ah yes I see Awsome Wellies beat me to it

Poor child will be called HardOn by all the bullies. I wouldn't use that name for that reason.

Oh I thought it was a boys name too. Hmm. No, don't like it for a girl.

He is a boy...well a 52 year old boy, but a boy all the same

Have a friend who's DS is Arden, I really like the name, but I do remember when baby was born, my friend's DH went in to work and told work colleagues the name and they were taking the mickey and saying " sounds like hard on".

I think of it as a girls name, as the only person I've ever known called Arden is a girl.

At first, I didn't like it, but it's really grown on me, and now I think it's lovely.

No idea about the surname, and I think any middle name they like would go.

Makes me think of the dog food - Arden Grange.

Plus the hard on thing too

Was going to say i liked it, but good point about "hard on." So don't do it

Arden was the surname of a lady I used to work with. Again, lipstick comes to mind & I'm not keen on surnames as first names. but that's just my opinion.
