Does this make you think Peter Rabbit?! Or am I being paranoid??

I'm afraid when I say the name out loud it does sound like Peter Rabbit, sorry.

What about Peter Richard instead?

shrimponastick · 13/02/2013 15:00

It hadn't crossed my mind.

Both are nice names though (am biased as I have a Robert) :)

poppydaisy · 13/02/2013 15:01

Yes, I think Peter Rabbit too.... But Peter is a great underused name!

NorthernLurker · 13/02/2013 15:01

I read it as Peter Rabbit! Grin

That's sweet but not when he's 35. Peter Richard was my choice for dd2 because Richard was my uncle who was killed before I was born. I think it's nice actually and Richard really isn't much used now.

MoelFammau · 13/02/2013 15:33

You don't think that having 2 names that both mean willy is a bit much, Northern?

Do love Peter though.

I thought peter rabbit.

MonsterBookOfTysons · 13/02/2013 15:41

I snorted with laughter. Sorry but yes, defiantly Peter Rabbit

SciFiFan · 13/02/2013 15:43

Sorry I too thought Peter Rabbit.

ProPerformer · 13/02/2013 15:49

Yeah a bit 'Peter Rabbit' - have you thought of swapping them "Robert Peter" sounds good.
ATEOTD thought DH says that middle names are there to embarrass kids so..... Still I wouldn't let him give our son Albert as a middle name! (Nothing against the name, it just sounds hilarious with our last name!)

Didn't think Robert was a name for a willy as I have a Robert and LOVE the name - especially as it has a few 'nicknames' should he ever wish to use them.

MimsyBorogroves · 13/02/2013 15:53

Sorry, first thing I thought without even opening the thread was "Peter Rabbit?!"

GirlOutNumbered · 13/02/2013 15:54

I didn't when I first looked but when I said it, it came into my mind immediately.

LadyD84 · 13/02/2013 15:55

Lol. Thanks for being honest, i thought it probably wasnt just me! Both names are my two grandfathers so would like to use them, but Robert also FILs name so DH won't allow as a first name (even though it is my favourite name of all time!). Also like Arthur and Edward, so could do either with Robert and Peter as middle names, though that gives ARP or ERP which looks ugly to me!

OP posts:
CruCru · 13/02/2013 18:27

It's my Dads name so sounds totally normal to me.

farmersdaugther · 13/02/2013 18:35

Hahaha this is my brother middle name and I've never ever thought of that before....

IMHO - No

Sashapineapple · 13/02/2013 18:54

Why not have two middle names and a new first name. Firstname Robert Peter Surname

MoelFammau · 13/02/2013 23:21

No no, I meant Peter Richard - the 'Dick' thing.

Peter Robert I actually like. It's not as if you live in the Deep South and will be screaming 'Peter Robert, you git yersel' back in here!' from the verandah. I have to remind myself what DD's middle name is, and God I OBSESSED over it at the time.

PunkyPod · 13/02/2013 23:22

I actually read it as Peter Rabbit Sad
Probably because its DD's current favourite book though...

gaelicsheep · 13/02/2013 23:25

Sorry, I read Peter Rabbit at first. But then you wouldn't often see the two names together, and in context it would probably be fine. Smile

HouseOfBears · 14/02/2013 02:37

The first thing that came into my head when I rad the title was "Peter Rabbit's go a fly upon his nose", probably only because we sang it at baby group this morning!

I think Arthur Robert Peter flows really well, and don't see any problem with ARP.

saffronwblue · 14/02/2013 02:41

Love Peter - classic and underused. I think you can get away with Peter Robert surname.

ItLooksLikeRainDear · 14/02/2013 02:55

Yes, I read it as Peter rabbit at first.

Agree that you could have 2 middle names. Peter Edward Robert then you are separating the names but still able to use them.

How about Robin instead of Robert? Peter Robin sounds great and Robin has the same meaning as Robert.

Startail · 15/02/2013 19:50

Fine, no I like Peter and my two partners in crime at uni were Rib and Bob, so no it just brings back happy memories.

Startail · 15/02/2013 19:51

Rob and Bob
