Love this - for a girl and would nn Bertie (yes, even for a girl) but husband says it's a 'fat' name like Bertha or Rolly. Worst of all, I think I know what he means... Thoughts?!

I LOVE, love, love it considers asking DH to reverse his vasectomy. It's old-fashioned and charming but fresh and modern at the same time. Go for it!

Can I, not rudely, say no? Bertie is quite cute as a nickname but I really don't think it would work. I'm with your DP, it kind of says 'plump factory worker in the First World War' to me.

Awful.

Definitely a clunky, big doll kinda name.

In no way pretty or feminine.

Bertie as a nn is veh jolly hockey sticks.

Alberta's okay.

But I agree with your DH about Bertie.

Definitely a 'sturdy' name x

I have to agree with your husband. The NN at school might not be Bertie but Berta which is just not good.

Canada. That's all I can think of.

I love it!

Meh, there's another NN in our family. Bess?

All I can think of is the province. It would be a definite no in Canada, even though the place was named after the princess! Just seems a bit like calling your child Staffordshire.
