Ok our daughter will be born in a couple weeks and we're struggling for a name.
My fat lazy husband doesnt like Alice (which I love) because our niece (same surname) is called Alyssa. Fair enough point perhaps...
So give me some clues. I prefer "normal" names, none of this Lily-Rosie or Gracie-Mae double barrelled trendy gash, just give me a nice normal name that isnt too old fashioned her schoolfriends will be taking the piss but not too cutesy that at age 65 she sounds like a sideshow act.
Suggestions ladies please...

With first dd exdh and I had chosen a name, personalised items had been purchased by relatives then a couple of weeks before she was born I realised I didn't like it. I waited till the midwife asked for her name to write on the hospital bracelet and literally shouted the replacement name over exdh.
To this day (even through a divorce) he didn't say a word in protest, such is the power your have in the first few minutes post birth!

I'm so annoyed I didn't use this power for DD.
I did,however utilise it for DS...and I will again.

I did give DH a list of names that I knew he detested, plus DD's name (which I was going to give her come hell or high water). From that list, he was bound to choose DD's name. He did. I did the same with DS. For some reason, DH rejected Sacheverell, Emmanuel and Gaylord, among others.
