I absolutely love it! It is definitely one of my favourite names.
Sorry for the hijack OP, but while we're on the subject of the name, do y'all think it would work with my surname, which is Pugh? Does Iona Pugh work?

Pronouncing it eye-oh-na rather than yo-na

I love it. However, likelihood of me ever using it for a dc is pretty much 0 (so I used it on the Labrador instead!)

I often get comments on what a pretty name it is, especially as I have to wear a name badge at work! Go for it! and the Island is remote, rugged and stunning!

I love it. I wouldn't say you have to be Scottish to use it. It's very pretty.

Like it. I don't agree you'd need to be Scottish.
I like it, it's semi-popular here (lowland scotland) but my DH wont' use any 'island' name:
lewis
harris
iona
skye
isla
ailsa
etc.
Don't know why, but he won't even consider them.

A similar island name I like is Rhona/Rona.
Iona pretty popular here, though that might be because my dc go to a Gaelic speakingschool!

I've known a few, and they have all been as enchanting as the island.
Iona is one of the best places on the face of the earth. Between the se and the sky and the feeling of being away - I adore it. Nice name too

It's nice enough but i know lots of ionas and islas and in my head they are interchangeable. I can never remember whose child is named which one!
Probably just a personal mental block!
Love it! Would be high on a girls name list for me but DH hates it!

It's a lovely name, I like it a lot. I would assume there was some Scottish ancestry but at the same time wouldn't think it odd if you told me there wasn't. Go for it!
