...and you just cannot stand? Still early days for us but before we knew DD was a girl, DH came up with Tennyson for a boy. I thought he was joking and just laughed, but he was serious. Is there hope for this poor DC?! We've already had the 'no to Tennyson' conversation just to get it out of the way!
My DH wanted 'Leon' all the way through my first pregnancy. Which I don't like but is fine as a name I suppose... Except it was also our very grumpy neighbours name.
Thankfully it was a girl.
Melita
He was obvs under the influence of my pg hormones!
Dh wanted Horatio for a boy
DH has a penchant for names like Billy Bob, Bobby Ray etc.
My answer was Just No.
Thankfully we came up with a realistic and lovely name by the time DS2 was born.
dh wanted to call ds2 jasper with jazz as a nickname
i just laughed and said 'don't be so silly'
you push the child out of your vagina-you get to name them imo
The only name dh suggested was Alison. I think he'd been listening to goldfrapp at the time.
Rhubarb, my DH came up with Alison, Samantha and Julie. All perfectly fine names but date his school decade very neatly.
DH suggested the name Rupert for DC1. I laughed. He got a bit huffy and I realised he was serious. DC1 turned out to be DD anyway.
I don't have a massive problem with the name, just always associate it with the bear.
Jackson. I said it was twatty, he got cross.
dh suggested alision too!!!!!
DH has recently suggested Gias. For a boy.
Eldritch I love that you described it as 'twatty'....good word!
My OH has come up with Renee and Victoria...
Sorry to any Victoria's but no child of mine will be called Sticky Vicky. And If we called her Renee I could never say her name in anything other than a dodgy Allo Allo french accent. What was he thinking?!
Wolfe. Well actually I suggested it half jokingly and he's really ran with the idea...
My dh suggested Paula for dd2!!! I got my way in the end though!
Montgomery. He insists he isn't joking. It matters not, I get final veto.
Wolf. We're not using it. Wishful thinking on his part.
The only name DH likes for as yet unborn DC3 is Persephone. He can't fathom why it might sound a little bit poncy on a child growing up in a slightly rough part of Essex.
I do actually quite like Persephone, but I know that it just wouldn't work living where we live.
He also insisted on calling DS Fernando all the way through my pregnancy, after Fernando Torres. Luckily he saw sense once the baby arrived.
DH always insisted that if we had a girl she would be called Jocelyn (from A Knights Tale) I don't think it's a pretty name at all (sorry to all Jocelyns and mums of Jocelyns) and its also a mans name!
Good job I only had boys!
What is it with these men and boys names? Fernando, Horatio and Bernard were all favoured by DP. Thankfully I named DS or so he tells me anyway.
I had DS1 when I was 19, and his father wasn't on the scene (his choice, not mine), so I was the sole opinion when it came to naming DS1.
It was a bit of a learning curve to have to negotiate with someone else when DS2 was born 6½ years later.
My DH came up with a number of eye-raising suggestions, the pick of which were Humphrey, Ignatius and Leopold. I thought he was joking but he wasn't.
With DD, the pick of his suggestions were Davinia (as his dad is called David) and Lucretia (was his grandmother's name). No and no was my response.
For a boy- Abelard, Bede or Abraham... He is a history teacher. Or randomly, Eric ( after Cantona).
Luckily we had girls! (not that I'd have given in to any of those as a first name)
We've had "Rocky", "Spartacus" and "Horatio". I've obviously vetoed these.
When I've managed to divert him from Alsations' names, he suggests his name, his Father's name or his grandad's name. [hhmmm]
DH wanted to call DC1 Booker if it was a boy (our surname is 2 syllables ending in "er") which I vetoed outright, he also wanted Thursday for a girl - I told him the only grounds that I'd even consider it would be if DC had been a girl and born on a Thursday... DC1 was a girl but luckily born on a Sunday!
No2 due beginning of June and so far no mention of either name from him!
For DD, DH suggested Bernice. It was because he'd read a baby name book as if it was an instruction manual & had got bored by the B's!
