I like the name Annie but don't like Ann(e) and would be concerned about it being shortened. Does anyone have an Annie or know an Annie? If so, is their name shortened at all and if so, to what?

I like Annie as a standalone name.

But howabout:

Anna
Annabel
Anneliese
Anya

YouFloatLikeAFeather · 25/05/2012 09:11

I know a teenage Annie and she has always been known as Annie, with no shortening to Ann(e).

FirstUpBestDressed · 25/05/2012 09:15

Love it.
I know an annie and she is never called anything else.

Littlecherublegs · 25/05/2012 10:09

I know 2 Annies (one about 30; one about 17) and as far as I know, neither get called anything but Annie.

Trestle · 25/05/2012 19:51

I know an Annie who is Anne-Marie.

I like Annabel, Anneliese, Angelica.

nizlopi · 25/05/2012 20:05

My Grandmother and Great Grandmother were both Annie's and were always known as such.

Pinkcate · 25/05/2012 20:29

My 9 week old is called Annie but we registered her as Anna just in case she wants to use a more formal name when she is older, Annie is a bit more of a nickname IMO

CousinCairngormMcWomble · 27/05/2012 19:09

I second Anwen and Anneliese.

What about Annette? Angela?

missmapp · 27/05/2012 19:14

malovitt · 27/05/2012 19:16

I have an Annie who is actually an Anwen. It's a lovely name (but I would say that) and seems to be pretty unusual. I don't think there'll be any other Annies in her class.

lovemygirlivy · 27/05/2012 21:39

I know an Annie, and she is called Annie all the time - i think it would be odd to shorten a ie name to ann somehow.

Lunarlyte · 27/05/2012 22:01

I know an Annie and she is known by that name. Her big sister is Maisie; I think that Maisie and Annie sound very cute together :)

marshmallowpies · 27/05/2012 22:05

I know a girl aged about 6 who is Annie, not a nn for Anne or Anna as far as I know.

I think it is a very sweet name for a girl but I DO think being a grown up called Annie might be a bit odd. Guess she can always say to people 'I prefer to be called Anne' when she is older & it's close enough to her real name not to offend her parents.

PandaNot · 27/05/2012 22:11

I have an Anna who is an Annie.

lunamoon · 28/05/2012 10:21

I think she would get called Annie and not Ann, so don't see a problem.

BabyBaby2012 · 01/07/2012 22:08

My daughter is 4 and is called Annie Grace. We have never shortened Annie, my problem now is Annie's sibling is due in four weeks and we can't think of another girls name we like as much as we adore the name Annie Grace!

PolkaDotMoon · 04/07/2012 00:05

I know an adult Annie, full name is the welsh Angharad. She never, ever gets Ann.
Love Annie btw

CharlieBoo · 04/07/2012 06:33

I know an absolutely horrible lady called Annie! Has forever ruined it or me

youarekidding · 04/07/2012 06:41

I love Annie. Is also one of my favourite films so I always think of it fondly and never think about shortening it.

Babybabay - how about something like:

Daisy May/Rose/Kate
Rosie May,Kate,Jo
Maisey
Poppy

Just trying to think of names that go with Annie also have the same ring. Not that they must sound similar.

Chunkamatic · 04/07/2012 16:28

I know an adult Annie who's full name is Anne, is always know as Annie. I like it.

Babybaby what about Clara?
