Naming our first bump

Well, we have another 5 months to make up our minds on this one, but feedback and suggestions are always welcome! We're seeking a fine line between reasonably uncommon and not too much of a life-long burden, and we don't know if it's a girl or a boy. Finding girls names easier! We probably want to get a first and a middle name out of these:

Nina
Alice
Charlotte
Caroline
Matilda
Julia
Emily
Rebecca
Ada
Mia
Anne
Penelope

Edwin
Jonathan
Rufus
Robin
Benedict
Ralph
Elliott
Peregrine
Falcon
Maximilian
Magnus
Thor

You have some really nice names picked out. I would have to rule out Peregrine and Falcon though. I think Charlotte Anne and Jonathan Edwin work very well.

I love Mia, though it's popular. Also Caroline - I know one with the nn Caro. And Nina and Rebecca. Less fussed about the others.

And Robin but I'm biased. And Peregrine.

Love Nina
Prefer Anna to Anne

Nina Charlotte or Nina Caroline

Love Elliot, Benedict and Magnus from your boy's list

Elliot Magnus or Elliot Benedict or Magnus Robin

How about Fergus, Callan or Torren?

I have a Magnus, and have had nothing but great comments about it, and it is very uncommon still we have not met another Magnus in the UK! The good thing is that people are familiar with Magnus Magnusson and actually know how to spell and pronounce it, so its a WIN WIN name allround! Good luck!

madaboutmadmen · 31/03/2012 17:49

Pereregrine & Falcon, you're taking the 'p' right? Thor is also a no-no IMO.

None of the girls names are terrible but Caroline, Julia and Anne seem a bit old for a child.

Good luck, struggling with names myself at the mo.

madaboutmadmen · 31/03/2012 17:50

Oops just spotted the spelling mistake Blush

pinpan · 31/03/2012 22:41

I'm pretty sure he won't be called Thor if I have anything to do with it... Or Peregrine (though it is both an excellent bird and a vineyard). The Falcon comes from Sir Robert Falcon Scott - we both think it's an awesome middle name, but probably not one we'll actually use. Grin

I'm leaning towards Nina and Edwin or Robin at the moment.

I love Nina and Penelope. Julia, Emily and Ada are nice, too. None of the names are bad, really, but I find Charlotte a bit 'vanilla'. Not madly keen on Anne (prefer Annie or Anna). There are gazillions of Mia/Maia/Mya variants about, if that bothers you?

I am not a big fan f your taste in boy's names, sorry. They are quite try-hard

Ralph is quite nice.

FoofFighter · 31/03/2012 22:46

I like Alice Anne for a girl and for a boy, Peregrine Falcon Edwin Ralph (love Edwin but think only Ralph goes with it from your list although i don;t like it)

doctordwt · 31/03/2012 22:54

Nina Rebecca and Magnus Jonathan, and get a hamster and call it Peregrine Falcon :)
