This is now on our boys list. It is not a very long list now. It consists of Balthazar and Clarence. They are the only two names dh and I agree on.
So, what do you think of Balthazar?
I know opinions on Clarence as I asked in June and got a very negative response. Feel free to add an opinion about Clarence if you want though!
I think Balthazar sits better with the sibset, but I also love Clarence, I worry Balthazar might be a bit too 'out there;.

Awful as is Clarence.

Alouiseg Thu 02-Sep-10 21:38:39

I like Balthazar! It's out there right now but uber cool.

Wasn't Sienna Miller dating Balthazar Getty? Very glamorous!

I know a 12yr old Balthazar. Have to say i don't like it though.

minipie Thu 02-Sep-10 21:41:58

Balthazar is way, way better than Clarence.

Still definitely "out there" though.

Bert2e Thu 02-Sep-10 21:43:05

NO!

Can you imagine shouting it across the supermarket?

Can you imagine someone called Balthazar reading the BBC news?

And don't get me started on Clarence - poor, poor child :-(

Clemence (Clem) is much better than Clarence.

Will he be born at Christmas time? I'm sorry to say folks will be looking for the other two triplets grin

cktwo Thu 02-Sep-10 22:00:04

Is this a joke?

PatriciaHolm Thu 02-Sep-10 22:05:15

You can't inflict either of those on a child.

At least, if you do, give them a nice sensible middle name that they can use as soon as they get the option....

MummyLovesSadie Thu 02-Sep-10 22:15:43

I like it actually. What would you shorten it to though as it's a bit of a mouthful to be saying every time you say his name?

BeerTricksPotter Thu 02-Sep-10 22:16:22

Oooh, no! It's the name of the bad angel in Constantine!

Timbachick Thu 02-Sep-10 22:17:12

Love Balthazar.

Don't like Clarence at all though, sorry.

Like the Clem suggestion though smile

Know a Balthazar. He's called 'Baz' for short.

BoojaB Thu 02-Sep-10 22:23:17

Both names are really bad. Pretentious and ugly. Sorry.

WetAugust Thu 02-Sep-10 22:24:37

You're having a laugh - please tell me you are

suspiria Thu 02-Sep-10 22:43:20

Balthazar is the name I will use for a future son. I think it is beautiful.

nowherewoman Thu 02-Sep-10 22:47:17

It's not horrible, but.....I hope you live in London grin

nowherewoman Thu 02-Sep-10 22:47:56

In fact, I assume that you do

Jux Thu 02-Sep-10 22:50:54

How about Melchizedek?

BeerTricksPotter Thu 02-Sep-10 22:54:22

Uriel?

PatriciaHolm Thu 02-Sep-10 23:51:45

He'll get called Balti grin

Balthazar is a great name in itself, but you do need to think very carefully how it and your son will be percieved throughout his life with it. It is extremely out there and doesn't easily lend itself to a nickname, apart from Zolly, which is quite nice. I love it, but would never use it unless I could come up with a suitable nickname. It's a great, distinguished name for an adult but will be hell for a child unless you move in particular circles.
