Please tell me she's going to do a country farmhouse one preferably one where the house is currently 1970s dead-mother-in-law chic?
I'd so love them to come here, rummage through the crap, unearth the good furniture, put the fireplaces back in and replace the curtains/carpets.
Am seriously thinking of applying for the next series, as it's the only way this place will be sorted. I can see so much potential here but can't see through the stuff...
I love this programme. Since watching the last couple of her programmes, I've been replacing my identikit Ikea flatpack for stuff from a local second hand warehouse.
I wouldn't want to be on TV but I so want her to come shopping with me!
Will you come and sort my house out Soup? There's so much stuff crammed in here there must be some good things but I'm pants with interior decorating
I also wouldn't want to be on tv but I'm desperate!
My house is also crammed with Stuff though
It's easier to look through someone else's stuff though, isn't it?
True
I was really dissapointed with this new series the other night, after enjoying last years so much. Im hoping it gets better.....
I caught the end of the last programme. Haven't really formed an opinion yet, but I did prefer the bedding box before it was upcycled with the 60s (I think) fabric.
Yes, I guess it depends if you like the style they're going for. The toy box thing was helpful to me as I've got one exactly the same so I now know what to do. I wouldn't choose that fabric though!
I think the principles are the same, whether you like the styles or not.
That's true Soup, I guess I'm just not very imaginative! I hope she covers how to sand down and paint furniture as I've found a rat-nibbled curved chest of drawers in the barn, and have just found all the curved drawers to fit it.
If you're just planning on sanding to give a key to paint on, then you just need to rough it up a bit, paint on an ndercoatmand then your choice of top coat.
I was really disappointed. I think they need to decide whether this is a craft show or a home makeover show as at the moment it's neither.
I might be biased as I'm no Kirsty fan but they just seemed to skim over everything I wanted to watch, but spent ages reminding us of what we'd just watched or highlighting what was coming up later in the show.
That's true Scarlet - maybe they want us to buy the book and sign up for a course...
Thanks Soup. It's already bare wood so sanding and undercoat would be quite easy. Can you paint over wood filler? The sides are quite nibbled...
Yes, you can paint over filler
I think that the series is showing how you can use crafts in your home. Rather than just, say, a programme on how to make a quilt they show you that you can make something that is completely "you" and fits perfectly into your home.
So, in the case of the first programme, you can make a quilt that is personal to you, decorating tired furniture is possible and you can make lights - in the case of the latter, people may well google the maker and just buy them.
I think it's "stance" is showing you how to furnish your home without having identikit high street stuff. If you want to learn more about a particular craft you'll have to seek it out but the idea has been planted. I don't think it is a craft show per se, more one that shows how you can use crafts in your home.
And Daisybell, I'm already jealous of your barn where you have stashes of furniture. I"m sure it's nothing like I am imagining it but don't spoil that
Is the house one that has been in your DHs family since the dawn of time and you're not allowed to change anything? Was that thread you?
Yes that's me
He has finally agreed that I can move the kitchen to the other side of the house and knock through front to back to make a big family space, the current kitchen will then become his office/downstairs loo.
I do have several barns filled with stuff. So far I've found:
Fireplaces which have since been boxed in
Wooden mantle piece
Refectory table currently covered in tools
Rat nibbled chest of drawers
Child's school desk from the closed village school
Cupboard doors from boxed in cupboards
Sewing machine table with treddle
This is why I'm hoping that the programme will do some more furniture restoration!

However it's all buried under pile of crap - any takers for 4 dark wood sideboards?
I only have the crap though, nothing buried under it other than more crap!
Daisy, in my head, your house sounds fab
I'm sure in reality it's a lot trickier than that! I only watched kirstie this morning and I quite enjoyed it. Takes crafts a step further than the last one. The lounge worked better than their bedroom (a bit too much wallpaper for me) but not really my taste. But feeling quite inspired...
Painting furniture!! Just as you wanted
Ooh brilliant! I've got it recorded so I'll have a look later. Thank you for reminding me :-)
I'll take 4 sideboards if you're near me!
They just did some chairs but the principle is the same for everything.
I was in Ikea today, for the first time in ages, buying plastic storage tubs. the rows of identical things made me feelmslightly nauseous where I used to love it.
