Hello, i'm in the process of starting to make customized baby clothes. Has anyone any experience of buying plain, no brand items, and have and recommendations of where to buy from? A google search isn't bringing much up!

TIA

Contact some childrenswear wholesalers and ask them to send you some samples and price lists. If you have some samples you can check the quality and see how they wash and wear etc. I don't have any contacts myself but found this via google

Thanks ladyface. Yeah I came across that site but the minimum purchase is £250. Not quite ready to spend that much yet. Thanks though smile. Will google around again

You mean just buy basic cotton baby socks, baby gowns and mittens etc?

If yes then people won't deal with you unless your a retailer - hence the reason they ask for minimum purchase as it's just not worth their while.

However, a rather shamefacedly way to get these is to go onto alibaba.com and email the manufacturers for samples. They'll send samples at individual prices and you just move onto the next - rinse and repeat as there are hundreds all over the world.

You can keep lists and whoever had the best stuff you can go back to them if it becomes a profitable venture. If not then you lost out on nothing.

I usually do this when starting new businesses to sell or wanting to test an idea without committing to it fully with large capital.
