We have this chavvy, foul mouthed couple of suspected drug dealers living above us and they are driving me nuts. If it's not their mates/customers kicking in the building's main door and yelling, smoking and dropping litter in the hall then it's them having a full on domestic (with violence) or badly faked noisy f*, or it's them leaving their mates dog in barking all day while they're out, or it's her daughter (whom she dresses like a mini whore) running about up there for about 12 hours (even though she should be in school!) , or it's their junkie mates cornering me in the hall and scaring the crap out of me! I am sick to death of the constant noise, stress, disturbed sleep and the fact that our landlords seem more on their side than ours even though we are quiet, law abiding citizens!
Is it any bloody wonder I am stressed out and stroppy with DH all the time having to live with this sh**?! Why won't these b****s just die or something?!!!angry

SawneyBeane Thu 11-Mar-10 20:12:23

...and breathe..

If you think they are dealing, call the police and keep calling them until something is done.

heQet Thu 11-Mar-10 20:13:04

talk to environmental health about the noise nuisance and the mess. Maybe a letter from them to the landlord might make them care!

(yabu to wish them dead)

Tricky one this.
There are those who'll tell you to call the police, but would the dodgy neighbours suspect you of shopping them?
I know it's craven of me but I would be terrified of inviting trouble to my door.

In all honesty I would look into moving.

Moominfamily Thu 11-Mar-10 20:33:33

Talk to your council. They can have noise monitors put in, in conjunction with Environmental Health, and can also give you an antisocial behaviour diary; write up every incident number the police give you, and call them for every incident.
Alternatively you could just move, I'm afraid that is what I did after 2 years of living next to neighbours like yours who eventually drove us out sad
There is a website called neighbours from hell who give good advice on nuisance neighbours and how to deal with them, google nfh.

heQet I understand you were shocked by the OP's wishing them dead, but it is unbelievably traumatic to live with neighbours like this, trust me if you did you too might wish them dead. It's not an indication the OP is being unreasonable, it is a measure of how awful her situation is.

Good luck OP, I hope you get them to move out or radically change their behaviour.

BranflakeGirl Thu 11-Mar-10 23:01:46

Moominfamily, we have done the anti-social behaviour diary thing but our landlords (a housing ARSEociation) are still doing nothing. Might try the environmental health thing but am so far past the end of my teather that I won't hold my breath. And thanks for your support...anyone who thinks I am being unreasonable has never been 13 weeks pg and having to live with this! If anyone is unreasonable it is our neighbours thinking we want to hear then fight and f*!

SawneyBeane - done and the police are well aware of their "habits" but they seem to know when the police are in the area and so far nothing has been found even though they clearly are.

arsesandoldlace - Looking in to moving...hadn't thought of thathmm (Sorry, I have a minor sarcasm problem when stressed). We don't have the money to buy or rent privately and apparently would barely qualify for a cardboard box under most council's "points" system. You have to be blind not to know where all their housing is allocated these days biscuit.
I don't think you're craven at all...the guy has mates doing time for armed robbery which is why we are being very careful!

The long and the short of it is, I am one stressed out, tired and unhappy pg girl and unreasonable or not I want these tw*ts gone one way or another...and, at this point, I would have no objection to it being pine boxed! We have the right to live here in peace and quiet and I do think we have more right than them because we are within the letter of the law.

IMoveTheStars Thu 11-Mar-10 23:07:41

First of all, write everything down. Times and dates. Then if and when you decide to tell the Council or Environmental Health you will already have your record.

My sister has a very similar problem (less of the dealing though). She has a teenaged boy living above her, he gets shit-faced and vomits over the balcony into her garden. They've replaced all the carpets with laminate, so it sounds like a herd of elephants upstairs. Miniscule wrt what you're dealing with, she called the council and got monitors put in.
Her neighbors are on their last warning, and she only has to threaten it to shut them up now. (they own the upstairs flat btw, so no mean feat to kick them out)

Yeah, I know, stupidly obvious.
Have had similar problems with neighbours and luckily for me they ended up in prison.

You'd think you would have more rights really wouldn't you?
Doesn't seem to be the case though, squeaky wheel gets the most grease and all that.

where do you think all the housing's being allocated confused?

expatinscotland Thu 11-Mar-10 23:18:51

YANBU. I have a thread going on this very subject.

I can't tell you how fucking sick I am of how yobs and thugs get away with behaving this way unchecked and anyone stuck living around them is fucked.

We had a situation like yours, but downstairs neighbour. And music. Constantly because when you're on drugs you don't need a lot of sleep.

When I found out he'd died I wasn't at all sorry. That sorry sack of shit and his peddling shit made our lives a living hell.

We're considering leaving the country for my native one because we're so goddamned tired of how the rental system works here and we'll never be able to afford a thing to buy here.

Do you want to borrow my flame thrower or the kalashnikov? I feel so sad andangry for you. I hope for your sake they overdose(and die?) on their own stash.

expatinscotland Thu 11-Mar-10 23:23:34

This guy had all sorts of gangs chasing him. I wound up on tranqs nearly every night for fear someone would petrol bomb his place and we'd all die because of it.

Now we live in mortal dread of who the council will stick in there next because teh guy wrecked the place and they've just now put it to rights.

oh lets not start on the noisy neighbours ok so my dc can make noise they are 11 and 2....not major amounts but all the same.

on the other hand the upstairs tenants have about 50 f*cking people living there, ok slight exageration there i know. and they are coming and going all through the night, banging their bloody pushbikes against my front door...banging up the stairs which i hear every step of.

And the landlord does sod all about it.

Buy a house - put up or shut up!

put up or shut up??

hmm

Missus84 Fri 12-Mar-10 00:00:18

You have to keep on at the housing association, it's the only way to get anything done. Complain, complain, complain. Get the name of the Anti-Social Behaviour Officer if they have one, and call him every time there's a problem. Put your complaints in writing and copy it to everyone you can think of - HA, local PCSO, your MP.

My housing association is actually quite hot on anti-social behaviour now, but the only way to get anything done is to cause them more trouble for not anything than it would cause them to fix the problem.

intercoursethepenguin Fri 12-Mar-10 00:05:00

Put up the money to buy your own place or shut up about the one the state gives you for free.

Missus84 Fri 12-Mar-10 00:09:06

The state hasn't given me a place for free, I think you're confused.

I pay rent to a housing association.

I don't think you are being unreasonable in the slightest. Our upstairs neighbour is a foul miserable old bitch. One of the reasons we are leaving Switzerland is her and her attitude to our dd. A couple of weeks ago she was in the middle of one of her banging on the floor rants, then it went silent and I heard a thump. I had my fingers crossed that she had died. Sadly not.

heQet Fri 12-Mar-10 07:39:29

moomin - I grew up on the estate from hell. Had our windows broken so many times - one time the council van pulled away from replacing one and before they'd turned the corner at the bottom of the road the window was through again!

There were some ducks kept by the people below us. Some of the estate kids used to STAMP on the ducklings. Throw them against walls etc.

Fights, abuse, music, eggs at the windows... having trouble with one neighbour is hell, try living on an estate full of bastards.

I stand by what I said. Wishing someone dead is a bad thing. It's not good for your soul to fill yourself up with hatred.

The state doesn't give houses away for free! You're off your nut intercourse.

Igglybuff Fri 12-Mar-10 09:05:32

intercourse just because someone pays rent to a public organisation, does that mean they're not entitled to a decent standard of living?

I think neighbours like this are despicable. And it's outrageous that people end up on tranquilisers to cope.

The HA should be hassled every day if need be until they do something about it. As has been suggested, speak to your local MP as they're usually very good.

YANBU

expatinscotland Fri 12-Mar-10 09:08:36

There's free housing?! Where?! I want some free housing.

intercourse is definitely the noisy effing neighbour from HELL that we are all complaining about. What's wrong "intie" had the rozzers round a few times to many girl
goy an ASBO complex perhaps?grin

ooojimaflip Fri 12-Mar-10 10:03:34

Housing is presumably allocated on a transparent need based points system, just like everywhere else.
