and shoved it on a bonfire! again.
begining to think its a local tradition .... bonfire night , make a bonfire , set off some fireworks and burn drlove8s wheelie bins!
now ive got to wait weeks for a replacement after i phone the council ,who tell me to phone police to report and wait for about a week for police to come out and take a statement ,just to give me crime number , to pass on to council before they issue another bin to us!
So now i have aproximatly 2 weeks of taking rubbish in the car every day to the local rubbish/recycling centre ....with 5 kids in tow one of which has SN.
aaaarrrrgggghhhh .
I can't believe it takes them 2 weeks to sort you out a new bin - that really is rubbish! <snort>
Our recycling bin went missing recently - it was nowhere to be seen. So on the Monday I filled in a form online to request a replacement, on Tuesday our missing bin reappeared, so I messaged them again to cancel my request to which they responded. A few days later a replacement bin arrived anyway.
So, now I have 3 huge feckin' ugly wheely bins in my garden.
Maybe I could send one your way for the next bonfire?
The council in Bristol will collect four black sacks if there is no wheelie bin.
Why don't yours do the same?
Ring them up and give them hell on environmental health grounds. Srsly.

nick your neighbours?
or could you ask to put some rubbish in theirs for a day or two? i wouldnt mind giving up some bin space in these circs

in in north east scotland !
lol @ nick the neighbours bin ! - it wouldnt be fair , it wasnt them this year.
might just sneek some rubbish in theirs though
I got by nicked this week too, not sure if last night or night before, mine was only the food and garden waste one though so not as inconvenient for me as it will be for you.
Can't you get your crime number over the phone? They usually have given me it straight away when I've reported something.

will ask needcoffee, it would be much easier if i cold get the crime number over the phone.... the only plus side of the police coming out is that a few of them are very good looking and gives us (me and bf ) something nice to look at for 10 minutes !
<<<<shhhh , dont tell DH>>>>>.

i cold ????? i could.
HF -
whats a ned?
arggh for you.i feel your scream
ned stands for Non Educated Delinquent. Commonly used term in Scotland,
think yourself lucky
down here if my bin is stolen I have to pay for a new one (£30ish if i remember rightly)
the council suggest that we label our bins clearly enough so people dont steel / swap them.
(so my house number is huge in red gloss paint)
and they will ONLY collect rubbish from a bin with the council logo on (NOT an identical one without the logo, avaliable cheaper in DIY stores)
and the lid has to close properly, 1 inch gap and they will not collect the 2 weeks worth of rubbish thats in there...
and the dustmen will never ever pick up a bin bag (health and safety
)

Crikey - where on earth are you nannyl??
After reading this I will have to think myself lucky and praise my binmen!
A good proportion of bins in my borough are overflowing and they always get collected.
And I live at the end of a road that narrows so when cars are parked (97% of the time), the dustcart can only get half-way down the road. So the binmen walk down, collect a double bin from the flats, empty it, and then use it to collect all the other rubbish from single bins (by picking the bins up and upending them into the larger one) to save the walk!
I am not sure what the policy is on replacing them though... I know that in the last borough I lived in they would replace a bin no matter how it disappeared within a week at no charge.
Madness to want a crime ref (as if you are going to request another bin for no good reason?!) and double madness to pay for it!
did you ring them and get the crime number or do they have to come out so you can have a perv?
We have to pay for our main waste bin too if it gets nicked, about £30, but don't think we have to for the recycle ones-I hope!

i actually rang them and asked if they could just give me number over the phone ... which they did.
, then i phoned council about the new bin , and it turns out they have some in stock so i should have it some time this week (4-5 days). yay !
.
think its my lucky week !

.... guess what ? the neds have done it again !
was sitting having nice cup of tea about 10 pm and i heard a noise outside , went to investigate and saw the neds running off with my bin thats 2 days old! they chucked it on another bonfire ! grrr . i phoned the police and told them, this time they sent out police to catch them in the act and a fire squad to put fire out. they caught them !
yay for police!
Turns out its next door neighbours son.
why? cant get my head round this tbh
<sigh>
Maybe being caught will stop them <hopeful> How embarrassing for your neighbour though or will they not care? I would die of shame.
Vikky83 I'm in South Leeds and our recycling bins and brown bins haven't been emptied for 2 months but they are collecting our black bins.
It is clearly a hired company as it is a hired blue bin truck, they are coming about every 2 weeks but we have to leave our bins out constantly as we have no idea when it will be.
Thought the black bins and non-collection would come under enviromental health.
