Harry Webb has been convicted of sexually assaulting a woman who fell asleep at his house after a night out. He wasn't jailed but was given a curfew. However Judge Peter Blair has lifted the curfew to allow him to go to Glastonbury of all places.

On what planet does it make sense for a man who assaulted a sleeping woman whilst under the influence of drink and drugs to have his curfew lifted to go to a place which is awash with drink, drugs and women sleeping in insecure locations? Perhaps if he wanted to go on holiday with his family it would be more understandable, but this judge seems to be determined to allow the circumstances which led to the assault to be replicated as closely as possible, except probably with less risk of detection.

This is crazy isn't it?

If anyone wanted to they could complain about the 12-month jail term suspended for two years which was handed out at Swindon Crown Court for sexual assault then they can do so by contacting [email protected] with all these details. It might be worth mentioning that this person can get a refund from the festival so long as he applies before midnight May 6th 2016

There is a proper report in the local Swindon paper.

This is not Glastonbury's fault. This ruling is just ridiculous and people should complain. Hopefully the survivor of this assault will complain too.

Going to Glastonbury is not an essential trip. He can get a refund. His curfew is worthless if the judge is going to suspend it for something like this. I am going to Glastonbury and will be campaigning hard while I am there to highlight the fact that people can and should complain about lenient sentences.

This is no justice for his victim.

Coincidentally ther is another man from the same place, the same age who was found not guilty of abusing a child on a technicality in 2013. Such a coincidence.

Thanks Sunny, I will follow that up. It's not Glastonbury's fault, they don' vet people. But the judge must be crazy.

I've read three cases of serious assault on 'former girlfriends', recently.

Two were kidnap cases, yet the sentences were under two years. One, which happened infront of a toddler and entailed a stand off with the police, carried a suspended sentence.

In one of the kidnap cases, the two men who helped and stood back and watched the assault, weren't charged. They drove the car and helped keep her hostage.

I feel like sentencing for violence against women, is going backward.

And that what's changed is people bother reporting in the first place and assailants are actually being found guilty. And that we feel that protesting might have some positive effect.

It's grim, but I suspect the current state may even constitute "improvement".

Well it's only women being assaulted, it's not something bad like fraud or stealing which would have got him a proper jail term.
It just shows how messed up our system can be, attack a woman? No worries just make sure you have a good time at Glastonbury. Insurance fraud? 7 years in prison!
