Help !

Came home from school run after dropping 3/4 children at school, in the quiet I can hear the sound of the Hex bugs.

Located a couple on the battle arena on the dining room and turned the wriggling creepy things off...but I can still hear one and this one is missing. ....loose somewhere on the ground floor.

I have no directional hearing and the toddler is laughing at me refusing to help. I am going to have to move house aren't I ?

Def you HAVE to move!

My FIL dropped one in the air vent in my car, drove me crazy!

hiddenhome2 · 20/01/2016 12:55

Lol, my real live pet cockroaches escaped when they were babies. I was finding them everywhere! Grin

Finola1step · 20/01/2016 12:55

Had one make its way to my foot just the other day. The bugger.

The battery will run out eventually.

Finola1step · 20/01/2016 12:56

Pet cockroaches!

hiddenhome2 · 20/01/2016 12:59

Yes, pets. Don't get me on talking about them as I have Aspergers and become boring if given the opportunity to talk about my animals Grin

wtffgs · 20/01/2016 13:15

Hiddenhome, I'm sure you are lovely but please don't ever move with your pets to Yorkshire

hiddenhome2 · 20/01/2016 13:16

Ha, ha......

brightnearly · 20/01/2016 13:41

Hiddenhome, did you name your pet cockroaches?

Trying to think of suitable names and failing...

sportinguista · 20/01/2016 14:38

Remember my friends cats 'releasing' all the crickets she had as lizard food from their tank. we were finding them for weeks - cat's thought it was great fun - all these interactive toys!

DS was asking about hexbugs though, I might avoid now as DH will go crazy trying to find them!

hiddenhome2 · 20/01/2016 14:53

Only one of them has a name. It's the male and he's called Gregor, Greg for short. He has three wives, but they're difficult to tell apart, so I just call them The Ladies.

This is him here, with one of his wives.

Greg is on the right.

Kafka fan, hidden?

P1nkP0ppy · 20/01/2016 14:57

What's a 'Hex bug'?

MsMargaretCarter · 20/01/2016 14:58

I have one behind some kitchen cupboards. It only took the battery 30 mins to run out.

hufflebottom · 20/01/2016 15:03

Sod that. Prize for the first DC to find them when they get home after school

sportinguista · 20/01/2016 15:12

Never thought of having cockroaches as pets, they are truly impressive, DS would love them, but my DH would run screaming like a girl as he does from all other insect life Grin.

coughingbean · 20/01/2016 15:18

Greg is very handsome! Are they the hissing kind hidden? I love that sound

Now Hidden, they are mighty fine cockroaches. Not the common little blighters that run across your feet when you are doing a work based home visit. Oh no.

hiddenhome2 · 20/01/2016 18:52

Yes, I love Kafka Pootles Grin

hiddenhome2 · 20/01/2016 18:56

They are hissers coughing it's only really Greg who makes a noise. Sometimes, they hiss at each other though.

They're very funny and cute and are The Worlds Best Pet! I promote them all the time as an alternative to goldfish for kids.

Good grief, what kind of home visits do you go on Finola?

All our Hex Bugs have disappeared down the same hole in our floorboards. There must be a legion of them down there, roaming around, clacking and buzzing ...
