My blood is boiling. Comment by family member about Crimewatch having no custom if it weren't for foreigners.

Heard it before and it's silly rather than a bad racist remark.

Post how many bankers were Eastern European then?

thebody not sure what you mean about eastern European bankers!?

Maybe Im over reacting then. It's on the back of other similar comments made.

Ignore. It is pointless arguing with idiots. Deleting them is a more profitable solution and better for the blood pressure.

Compos you are right of course. Tempting to react but I won't as they wouldn't get it in a million years Sad

Someone I knew from school and who I was friends with on FB wrote something along these lines.

'My daughter had just had her bag stolen by 2 black women, after all she's done for you people, collecting money to go to Africa'

I was Shock and unfreinded her immediately, thought it was horrible (plus lots of her friends were putting further racist comments)

She then sent me a private message saying 'I see you've unfriended me, I don't think it's fair blah blah' I ignored.

There are basically some very stupid ignorant people on FB not including myself obviously!

Some phrases to consider:

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

When tempted to fight fire with fire, remember that the Fire Department usually uses water.

Why do people who know the least know it the loudest?

God grant me the serenity to accept that people are ignorant, the courage to uphold the law when I?m hostile, & the wisdom to realise that murder is illegal.

People have the right to be stupid. Some people abuse that privilege.

The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.

I agree with ComposHat - just ignore it!

YANBU, however if you hang around long enough I'm sure you'll have loads of posters telling you off for being so judgemental and trying to explain how just because they hate blacks/browns /blues/reds doesn't make them racist aswell how thoroughly nasty and backward the 'islamists' are.

Interestingly the flip side of this is that Crimewatch will only do a certain number of appeals where the offender is of an ethnic minority so they are not accused of being racist. I know of cases which were appeals for someone of an ethnic minority which were 'bumped' to the following programme because they already had enough appeals for ethnic minority groups and didn't want the racism accusations.

I am of course not saying ethnic minority groups are of a more criminal persuasion than any other but there are criminals who will deliberately come to this country from others to commit crime (human trafficking example by ry nature will generally be a foreign gang most commonly eastern European) are escaping from their own country having committed crime there in the same way a lot of British criminals who disappear off to Spain or the Netherlands to escape justice here.

If you count the number of faces each month on 'most wanted' there is a disproportionate amount of non British people compared to the general population. On the Crimewatch page now for instance for February there are 8 faces shown. Three are white British, two are of Asian descent and may or may not be British, 1 is Algerain who is wanted for a murder in his own country , 1 is Lithuainian and 1 is from Grenada.

twitchycurtains, why do you put 'islamists' in quotation marks?

Islamists are different to muslims in that islamists have a political component to their fundamentalism, and often are, indeed, nasty and backward.

Muslims, like christians, are far too numerous and multifaceted to characterise in any meaningful way, positively or negatively.

Belfast: I put it in quotation marks because on these kind of threads the closet racists/bigots et al seem to not know the difference between the two, alongside wanting to send them all 'home' lest they enforce their shariah law on the greater population.

Twitchy

the post immediately below yours could not illustrate your point more beautifully if it tried. I don't think I have ever seen a more blatant example of 'I'm not a racist but....'

I am of course not saying ethnic minority groups are of a more criminal persuasion than any other

By the way, peed I made a similar comment to your 'blood boiling' one on a similar thread a few days ago, (I thinki I said I was shaking with rage) and for some reason some people thought that was hilarious and questioned whether I didn't have anything better to get annoyed about.

I continue to feel blood boiling rage over racism and think I am justified in doing so.

And YANBU. but you know that anyway!

The facebook comment is so ridiculous, I can't get offended. I just feel absolute pity for the typist. Imagine being utterly convinced that Britons don't commit serious crimes. How close-minded would you have to be, in order to shut out all the contradicting evidence, and retain such a belief?

What does having a go at foreigners have to do with racism ?

I think you are confusing racism with xenophobia. I find it interesting that it's always the people who dont know what they are talking about who are first to call others stupid

Report
usualsuspect · 15/02/2013 12:02

xenophobia,racism. intolerance.

Not much difference really.

Snowtime I read your post and I totally get how you felt. It makes me so angry rhetorically ignorance of some people.

BigJessie you are so right. I just can't stand racism or xenophobia although I don't understand through difference.

I have gone head to head with this person before face to face but am trying to move on from this one to keep the peace.

The point is look at who are being sought for crimes in London. These are facts not opinions.
