She sounds utterly delicious OP. I think I had forgotten about peekaboo with dc2 until dc1 reminded me when dc2 was about 12 months. She doesn't seem to have come to any harm by it.

ds2 has only recently initiated peek a boo in that he turns his head away and quickly back to me with a cheeky smile and i say peek a boo, hes 16 months

your dd sounds perfect to me.

I seem to remember that peekaboo is usually initiated by the adult at this age, once past 1 yr it's different. Your DD sounds fine, jumping on you and showing affection is exactly where she should be, ditto crawling and standing up. Just keep playing with her and most of all enjoying her!

Make friends with the OP, Mama grin

Milestones MrsTerryPratchett what are they?

So glad I was over them my DC3, as he didn't walk till he was 15 months!

I suggest you get yourself some friends with three or more children. They are so reassuringly blase about milestones. If you are worried, ask a HCP. But really, unless there is an actual problem you will send yourself insane by her 2nd birthday if you focus on this stuff.

Oh thank you everyone, phew! Actually she's dd2 would you believe. Today I had a sinking feeling that she doesn't initiate and I had a big guilt trip that maybe because she's number 2 that I've let her sort of get on with it sometimes and I worried that she's not behaving normally. I've probably forgotten what a baby of this age is 'meant' to do.

thanks bunny that's really helpful, not sure why I didn't think of that. hmm

She sounds perfectly normal!

She sounds like a lovely normal baby.

OP, in the kindest way, your post made me smile. Could I hazard a guess she's your pfb? I worried with mine, but honestly, just enjoy her. Poor dc2 is 11 months and I'd barely notice if he wrote his own name!

have you been introduced? she might be a stickler for etiquette and not like to make the first move without an introduction. get someone to introduce you.

She sounds just perfect, don't stress and enjoy!

Oh also she is 9 months and 1 week.

Does a 9 month old normally initiate communication or am I expecting too much? She mimics sounds and facial expressions and is very affectionate. She initiates affection and grabs my face to kiss me and jumps all over me kissing and hugging and she does reach out to me. She smiles at me when she's in her cot or when I walk into a room and responds to my smiles. She has a fake little cough that she does because she likes my fake shocked response. But should baby by now be initiating things like peekaboo and just initiating more responses from me or am I expecting too much? She does pass me objects and I pass them back so she plays that game. I think she's meeting other milestones and is crawling commando style and is very good at standing up propping herself up on her elbows or holding on.
