Is a bit of a nutter if she thinks he will actually keep it and use it? hmm

PerryCombover Wed 28-Nov-12 19:18:03

I think that unless they are preggo it's a nutso pressie to give to them

Wouldn't give him a bra, now would she?

ChessieFL Wed 28-Nov-12 19:18:26

Well that won't happen will it icelolly?

Icelollycraving Wed 28-Nov-12 19:25:15

Oh come on,can you not see her on Aibu? Aibu to wish my inlaws didn't have a key to our palacehome grin

SchroSawMummyRidingSantaClaus Wed 28-Nov-12 19:29:47

Perry I think he's unlikely to ever need a bra though. grin

I'd love it if she joined MN. I bet the babygrow loon is a MNetter.

Totally agree with Pagwatch (and several others). I had a rant at DH when I saw the news item, 'what if they are trying and its not happening, how insensitive' etc etc. I was actually going to start my very first MN thread on exactly that point.

Frankelstein Wed 28-Nov-12 19:59:33

Agree with Pag et al. If anyone gave a gift like that to me or DH, I'd probably spend the night sobbing in bed (TTC for 2.5 years) sad

CrazyChristmasLady Wed 28-Nov-12 20:03:37

So what would actually happen if they couldn't conceive?

Harry would be next in line.

WinklyVersusTheZombies Wed 28-Nov-12 20:11:07

He would be traditional and lop her head off and marry someone else smile

Frankelstein Wed 28-Nov-12 20:14:19

Current line of succession:

Prince Charles
Prince William
Prince Harry
Prince Andrew
Princess Beatrice
Princess Eugenie
Prince Edward
James (Viscount Severn)
Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor
Princess Anne
Peter Phillips
Savannah Phillips
Isla Phillips
Zara Tindall

Have not seen this news story but think it's absolutely ridiculous/ insensitive/ thoughtless to give baby gift before someone has even conceived! So YANBU -she's a nutter!

SchroSawMummyRidingSantaClaus Wed 28-Nov-12 20:18:02

Winkly You are assuming it would be because she couldn't concieve.

Who the hell is Zara Tindall?

Frankelstein Wed 28-Nov-12 20:18:27

Zara Phillips grin

Chubfuddler Wed 28-Nov-12 20:20:51

Princess Anne's daughter.

What a bloody crass thing to do.

SchroSawMummyRidingSantaClaus Wed 28-Nov-12 20:22:09

Ah right okay. Thanks. smile

WinklyVersusTheZombies Wed 28-Nov-12 20:25:55

schro that was a joke - do you think Henry the Eighth would have been up for sperm analysis? If we still had a lopping heads off Royal Family, they would assume it was her. Couldn't possibly be a problem with the royal swimmers could there.

I thought that it was a sweet thing to make BUT a totally inappropriate gift for couple not publicly pregnant - if pregnant at all. Poor Kate. Just really hoping that she didn't miscarry yesterday or similar. Anything could have happened or be happening - just like anybody else - which is why you don't do this kind of thing.

ImperialStateKnickers Wed 28-Nov-12 20:26:18

I think it's been said several times already but I wouldn't dream of giving a baby present to anyone who wasn't quite definitely expecting a baby. In fact I'm old-fashioned and don't usually present a gift until the baby's actually arrived safe and well. My view is coloured by a friend suffering a still birth at eight months though.

SchroSawMummyRidingSantaClaus Wed 28-Nov-12 20:30:31

I know it was a joke, I forgot the winky face.

Imperia sad Completely understandable on those reasons that you wouldn't want to give a gift to someone who hadn't actually had a baby. I would think that is would also be pretty simple logic. Obviously babygrow woman hadn't thought of that though, which is surprising as she was wearing a practically newborn waiting in the cold without a hat angry.

BupcakesAndCunting Wed 28-Nov-12 20:36:46

I agree with Pagz.

It's awful and pushy and CREEPY AS FUCK.

Why would you do this?! Why?!

SchroSawMummyRidingSantaClaus Wed 28-Nov-12 20:39:49

I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt a bit and assuming post baby sleeplessness is the reason behind her reasoning skills obviously not working right.

bondigidum Wed 28-Nov-12 20:45:52

I actually feel sorry for them. For all the years they were together everyone was all 'when will they get married?' and then as soon as they did everyone moved onto 'right.. babies!' Leave them be ffs, they might not even-shock horror!- want kids, or even be having trouble trying so the babygrow could actually have been a kick in the teeth.

Frankelstein Wed 28-Nov-12 21:20:52

My personal opinion is that they waited until they felt ready for children before getting married. They are not stupid and will have known that once they were married the "baby?" questions would start. I just hope, for their sake, that they are not having problems TTC as I know just how heartbreaking that is.

tetleymel Wed 28-Nov-12 21:24:02

Everyone asks what if they have problems conceiving etc. Perhaps they don't want to have any children!
