So I am 8 weeks post giving birth. I posted on facebook that I was pleased to be back in my jeans after months of maternity dresses/tracksuit bottoms. One friend replied
"I am back in mine after months of hotpants and bikinis." She does work in the med.
Probably reading too much into this and it was just a witty joke.

Um yes I think you are being over sensitive. I can't think of anything I would take offence with in her statement, other than I would bf jealous she works in the med!

What your friend said does not sound rude or insensitive, and I am honestly baffled as to how you can see anything like that in it at all.

Er yes, it was a joke! I can't even see how it could upset you tbh.

Your friend is boasting - don't give it a second thought.

I don't see what was rude about it. You were telling everyone you'd lost all your baby weight in 8 weeks, hardly a topic that would have most people think they need to walk on eggshells

I don't see how that's rude?
Sounds like she's referring to wearing hotpants and bikinis all summer and now having to wear jeans to me.

How did you manage to make that seem rude or insensitive?

Where does she live? Hot pants and bikinis in the summer...in the UK, THIS year??
You're been a bit sensitive.

It seems like it was a joke, maybe with a bit of stealth boasting added, but still just a joke.

Did the OP develop an allergy to sunlight whilst pregnant, so hasn't been in the sun since summer 2011?

Your friend sounds amusing. You were boasting and might have upset others.

You're being daft!
Your friend was having a little boast about usually fitting into hot pants and bikinis but to be fair so were you!
My response to your friend would be something along the lines of:
"Ha ha, I'll be rocking my hot pants soon ;) and I'm sure you'll be back in yours as soon as your baby arrives."

Think stealth boast hits nail on the head.
Bearing in mind weather much better in med and she still has the figure for hotpants and bikinis which after 4 dc I do not.
Granted I am proud to be back in my jeans but would love them to be a size or two smaller.

But you were boasting first...
