AIBU?

AIBU to get annoyed with the bath!

More specifically - the over flow! Grin

All I want is to be covered in water up to my neck. All my bath wants is to give me as little water as possible and leave my boobs and tummy sticking above the parapet to freeze off!

I run the bath til its full, get in, and enjoy the first minute while I am totally covered with water! But then the over flow takes all the water I want away!

I have been very tempted to block up the overflow, but worry about DP and DS flooding the house!

I can't even leave the tap on to keep it topped up, as they are separate hot and cold taps, which don't give me the right temperature if run while in bath! (One foot burns, and the other freezes!)

I would say it is my own fault for being a fat bugger, but I've been a thin bugger too, and it didn't make any difference! I'm now a fat pregnant bugger and the level of boob/fat that is above water is still the same as in my non pregnant state!

Surely others suffer this dreadful infliction!

So, AIBU to get mad at the bath?! Grin

YANBU. Selfish bath.

Our plug fits over the overflow when not in use. Buy another plug to go in the overflow and then take it out and hide it after your bath.

Oh, the overflow is a little metal case, with holes in, but not like a plug hole!

I sometimes put my foot over it. But this hurts, and only delays the inevitable by about 30 seconds!

YANBU you need a bigger double ended bath Wink

Roll of duck tape in the bathroom. Easy to remove when you get out, and no nasty overflow thingy drinking your bath water.

Duck tape fixes everything!

So, is it not just me who is suffering then?!

Was once told they used white blue tack to block the overflow for the flake adverts. Worth a go?

Wtf? How do I even remember all this shit?

I use my foot. Why does it hurt? Little knobby bit in the middle of the metal doohickey goes between big and second toe.

YANBU. I might have to invest in a plug to cover the overflow to. I end up trying to push myself down.

I have short legs that don't reach so well!

I'm not playing up my physical attributes here am I?!

I'm all leggy and fabulous so that explains it ha ha ha ha. Someone should invent a snorkel for the hole so that you can flip it up so the water only goes out of the overflow when it's about to, you know, overflow.

DH has, for a very long time, in every house, covered the overflow with duct tape. On our new bath hecwas veryvexcited to find a push in plug for the overflow. You knowvthe push open plugs? It's one of those. I thinkbits probably from eBay. He now has waterclaping atvthecedhes.

I remember the days of wallowing in tub full of water. The bliss of letting half the cooled water out and topping up again with hot, Of having to take care not to move to much or the water would slosh over the side.

Then i was fitted with a water meter Sad

You need to ditch this bath in favour of one which better meet your (very reasonable) needs!

my bath doesn't have an overflow, realised yesterday for the first time when ds (3) asked why the bath was so big and i ran in to find water inching towards the door.

Report
BeingBooyhoo · 18/10/2012 01:22

ds wasn't in the bath BTW! i had run the hot water to top it up for myself after he got out and got distracted with drying and dressing him.

YANBU. I hate it when my nipples are left blowing in the breeze because the water refuses to cover them.

Book yourself into the Dorchester for a night, you deserve a nice place for a night.

I filled the water in the bath not just above my belly and boons but to just under my neck.

A double ended bath is your friend! I love mine dh doesn't because of the water meter! I couldn't stand a bath where parts of me are exposed, I have to be fully covered with hot hot hot water.

Yanbu! I got really annoyed about this exact same thing the other night (and as you know I am also sporting a full-term bump which made it even more difficult to submerge). I do use my foot (I'm only 5'3) for a while but can't keep in that position permanently.

I was lying in the bath dreaming of duct tape. Must get some. Or gaffa tappe? Like they say if you can't fix it with gaffa, you just haven't used enough.

Lurk that made me laugh.

Oh I remember the days of bath wallowing! I very quickly became excellent at turning taps with my toes! Water up high...bubbles....hot hot water

Then We moved to a house with only a showe! Ridiculous!

It's been 4 months and I'm genuinely still upset over the lack of bath

Lurk Grin

YANBU I used to have this problem then the HA came and put in new bathrooms. The new bath is shorter than the old bath so now I can't even lie down in comfort. Consequently I haven't had a bath in years Sad

I do have a shower so I'm not stinky.

You need one of these www.omnitub.co.uk/ Shorter than a standard bath - which means for a shallow kid bath you use less water and althogh you can't stretch out the water can be comfortably up around your neck :D We used to have one when we had a very small bathroom and I really miss it.
