Been on yet another failed mission today to buy some Skylander figures. There are plenty of starter packs everywhere but no Skylanders. Surely the makers should have sorted this by now, its been like this since Christmas.... Do they not want to make any money!
The only place I have seen them in stock is on ebay for 2/3 times their face value

Have you been to Tesco? They always seem to have a few.
We kept being told that they would get some more relesed by the end of feb.
DS has been saving his christmas money for some that he wants. It is a real pain.
I think they are releasing small amounts to build demand tbh.
Whatever you do, don't look on Ebay. They are going for like £30 each!

Yes and Yes but thanks for your suggestions! We have got a few in Tesco in the past, I think it is just luck if you happen to be in there at the right time. They seem to go and soon as they are put on the shelves.

I thought that might be the case Valar.
I saw what they were going for on ebay, tried to persuade my DS to let me sell his but he unsurprisingly was having none of it
Tons in local Tesco today
Is anyone after any of them in particular? I think some are more available than others. Smyths Toy Store had some but no the one DS wants.

I got some from play.com and also argos , i did have to search all the local argos stores though on the internet.
I hope DS doesn't think we are going to get all 32 characters at £8 a throw, even if we could get hold of them.
We got a few packs from Amazon a few weeks ago - DH bought a triple pack just so I could have Hex
and she's fantastic so the DCs keep pinching her to use when they manage to kill their own

I like Hex too.
On our game she has a beret now!
I've bought my DS a triple pack Chop Chop/Eruptor/Bash for a Valentine's Day present. He has about ten others. That will be it now. Not buying any more!!
And ignore that as having checked I can see that most of them are now out of stock - we were obviously lucky, or sneaked in just before the post-christmas rush!
How much are the triple packs?
The hats make me laugh. Totally ruins the cool goth vibe she has going but never mind

Triple packs are around £18.
Is skylanders good? I like the look of it but dd doesn't seem impressed by the look of it and I'm struggling justifying buying it just for me.....but itlooks fun.

I got some on Sainsburys online for 9.99 each, Hex was 9.99 at sainsburys and over 20 quid at play.com there is a big difference. Its a massive pain in the arse.
I really like it as you can dip in and out of it - the segments are all fairly short so you're not tied down to play it for hours at a time and although it isn't difficult to play it's still interesting and fun, DS1 (almost 14) gets as much out of it as DD (8).

My bloke is a GAME manager and reckons that Skylanders has the best marketing he's seen.
As well as the £50 to but the game you end up forking out for the extras too. They know that people will want the extra Skylanders, especially as you need as many as possible for when they're 'resting'.
Clearly it's working as everywhere has sold out!!
It's an excellent game though!! My son bounces up and down with excitement as he's playing it!

My DD would like Skylanders. We have PS3 and Wii. Which console should I buy for?

Oh, I love Hex. I don't mind her looking faintly ridiculous, but fwiw the antlers hat doesn't spoil her 'look' as much as some of the others. I have maxed up her wall of bones & skull attack - pow, pow, pow, pow!
(viva, I think it is good but depends on your dd - my two will still get loads out of it but dh & I completed it quite quickly over Christmas -fun though)
I didn't know they were hard to get hold of, got the starter set, then another 3 & 1 single, all from amazon just after Christmas, haven't tried since. I did google uk release dates for a few and it was a bit vague... We want Stealth Elf

Apparantly they're the same on either.

How old is your DD? Graphics are miles better with the PS3. Iplayed the Wii version at the MN Skylanders event and wasn't impressed - we have it on the 360 and it's lovely to look at. However that's probably not going to bother your DD so I'd go for either the console she's better at using or (more importantly) whichever one is currently cheaper...

2 DDs, 9 and 7. All their games so far are on the Wii. I may need to go and investigate further. They are used to playing it at childminders on xbox, so may need to go for the graphics, although they can set up the Wii themselves (our PS3 goes through the surround sound and there are lots of buttons to press...)
