So, some 'clever' bigwig decided that using a woman who has never had weight issues to front a weight loss campaign was a good idea! Duh... Alesha love, this was the wrong time to take the money. She bleats on that she has a close friend that had weight issues and that it was 'really hard to watch' her go through it...
Gimme a break! Alesha was wrong to front this campaign and whoever thought it was a good idea is a bit thick really. We women who have struggled/are struggling with weight need a person who we can identify with and if you are a weight managent company it is nor rocket science to think that a good spokesperson would be someone who has gone down the weight loss route, not someone who hasn't.
Silly Weightwatchers!

WW is justs business designed to part women from their money. If we all lost weight and kept it off they would be out of business. My advice would be to look up the basics of the atkins diet on Tinterweb and then just follow that roughly. Eat protein and green veg and exercise. If you have a major problem and have dieted for years and not managed to succeed and you have some cash look at weight loss surgery, the Vertical Gastric Sleeve is good as is Gastric Plication. Just my opinion based on experience.

Just been reading about this in the paer, WW are saying she just did the song thats all, shes not a spokesperson or anything.

She is fronting the advert on tv!
I lost weight through doing it myself but I think the WW has some good plans that work for certain people.
Oh YANBU and this seriously pissed me off as well. She is certainly behaving like a spokesperson, even if she officially isn't one! She's the main person in the advert, she sings the song that plays throughout the advert, and she is giving interviews about the frigging advert!
What bloody moron decided that a woman with no weight problems at all would be a good idea to front this?!
Fuck me.

YANBU but only because I can't stand Alesha Dixon with her "You GO girl" attitude and terrible grammar.
Didn't that nice Jennifer Hudson lose shitloads of weight on it? And she's an actual singer innit? Would have made more sense to use her.
I've defected to Slimming World anyway.

Agree that Jennifer Hudson would have been ideal bupcakesandbunting! Why did you go for slimming world by the way? I tried WW once but in the end did it myself. Don't know much about slimming world though.

Could Alesha not be using the WW points system to maintain her weight? Maybe she has used WW in the past, you can join with a min weight of 7lbs to lose so its a possibility that she has lost weight.
I agree though Jennifer Hudson would have been a better choice but would anyone over here know who she is though?

How do you know she has never had weight issues?
I think the ad is quite good but only because I know someone in it!
She is a ww leader, if that is the right term.
Jennifer Hudson has made a tv advert for WW. It may only air in the US though. She duets with her 'former' self.
YANBU.
No idea why WW chose Alesha Dixon for UK ads. I'm baffled really. They should have hired someone that has lost weight with WW and has kept it off. I think Catherine Zeta Jones openly says she uses the WW plan. Not sure she'd be up for advertising for them though.
It's got us talking so in that respect the ad has worked - provided none of us intend to boycott WW because of their odd casting choice.

I think they have to be careful because if they chose someone who actually does battle with their weight, all eyes will be on them to see how much they lose on WW.
The second they regained a stone, or if they decided to have a gastric band fitted in future...the press would have a field day and it would be very bad for business.

Alesha has said herself she hasn't had weight issues and that she only has second hand experience of it from friends

The advert annoys me, but not the fact that they use Alesha or her song.
The miming is poor.
The whole talk of weight loss in terms of it being 'a game' to play.
Just grrrrrr!

Do you seriously think that the models used in say chocolate adverts ever actually sit gorging on chocolate?
I always say to myself, yeah I'm sure that size 0 model eats tonnes of chocolate every week.
It's just an advert.

I agree, she isn't the ideal choice of person to represent the Company. There are plenty of celebs who use WW and manage to maintain their weight.
I did WW a few years ago - going from a size 20 after having DD and maintaining a size 8-10 for the last 6 years, I love WW. Still follow the principles now (but the old point system).
