to have told the businessman at the bus stop that his tie clashed with his shirt?

I didn't, but I wanted to.

His shirt was pale pink and the tie salmon pink. It was horrible.

What did you want to say today, but held your tongue cause it would have been rude?

aldiwhore Mon 19-Sep-11 17:01:32

YABU but I completely understand. I hate salmon pink.

LynnCSchreiber Mon 19-Sep-11 17:04:21

It is such a non-colour, isn't it. Why would anyone wear a salmon pink anything?

AuntieMonica Mon 19-Sep-11 17:05:18

was it David Dickinson?

he wears salmon pink

or Des O'Connor?

MissVerinder Mon 19-Sep-11 17:05:44

"You know that top you're wearing? If you'd have bought it in two sizes bigger, you'd have looked two sizes smaller..."

As if I had the balls to say it though!

LynnCSchreiber Mon 19-Sep-11 17:06:27

He was young. Maybe about 30ish.

Too young for salmon pink.

I will look for him tomorrow and see if he is wearing unsuitable colour combination.

Gonzo33 Mon 19-Sep-11 17:07:28

Seriously, check your job description. It is in your pay grade, not mine. Now jog on.

Hassled Mon 19-Sep-11 17:08:44

Did he have a tan? Because orange and salmon pink is spectacularly bad.

Actually today I wanted to say something that wouldn't have been rude at all (the world's most thoughtful random dog walker obviously sensed my unease as I approached and stopped her dogs and stood between me and them while I passed) but I didn't. I should have.

LynnCSchreiber Mon 19-Sep-11 17:11:52

That is lovely. I can always tell when someone is nervous of my dog (although I am always amazed at them being nervous of a bundle of fluff, but angst is not logical).

He didn't have a tan, but he was wearing a pale grey suit that didn't go well with the salmon pink either.

MissV
Oh, I want to say that to my mum people all the time.

Gonzo
Love "jog on"

At the pub once a somewhat outspoken friend pointed out (in front of a load of mates) that my partner was wearing a suit with a stripe, a shirt with square and a tie with circles and wtf was he thinking. He went out the next week and bought a load of plain white shirts and plain ties and that is all he has worn since.

I'm kind of grateful to her. I was obviously being too tactful.

troisgarcons Mon 19-Sep-11 17:14:59

Oh I dunno. I once told a man at work that the black lacy bra he wore under him shirt was a no-no and he should wear a white one grin

I wanted to say: 'Get out my fucking way' to the extraordinary number of people consulting maps on the pavement, walking four abreast, meandering towards me while texting, blocking my way while looking at menus outside restaurants, having a chat in the middle of the pavement, standing in front of me at the kerb when the road was completely clear but not crossing because the green man wasn't lit and generally milling about.

It was like being in a zombie film.

But I didn't say anything because I would have looked mad.

I hate that tone-on-tone shirt and tie combination too. It was a very big look for footballers a few years ago.

scaevola Mon 19-Sep-11 17:19:17

He might be colour blind and live alone. If you succumb to your urges, do it nicely.

You do realise in twenty years when you hit mad old biddy territory you will fit right in. hmm smile

susiedaisy Mon 19-Sep-11 17:23:12

I have tried to be open mindedgrin but I don't like men in pink or salmon pink, can't help it, it just doesn't look right to me!

LynnCSchreiber Mon 19-Sep-11 17:24:52

Laurie
In 20 years, I will say, "young maaaaaaaaaaaaan, that tie and shirt combination is abominable" and set him up with my niece/neighbour's daughter/random woman

Maisiethemorningsidecat Mon 19-Sep-11 17:28:50

I wanted to tell the shop assistant that the gargantuan spot on her chin would have benefited from a bit of concealer, but I didn't.

It was huge

OOOOOO Maisie you should have offered to pop it for her, videoed the event and come back here to tell me the spotporn people all about it ingreat and lengthy technicolour detail!

A man stopped his ride-on lawnmower in the park so my fascinated 2yo DS could have a good look at it and showed him how it worked.

I wanted to tell him that his kindness had made my otherwise really shit day but I was too embarrassed. And a bit scared of the big blades / toddler combo.

Maisiethemorningsidecat Mon 19-Sep-11 17:53:21

It was very tempting Pus!!

That was sweet of him, next time say that. He would be chuffed.

I recently told a woman that I was so impressed that her children waited patiently while she fetched their meals, they were so quiet and well behaved.

I think that she had been having a bad day, cause she looked so chuffed and almost tearful when she said that it didn't feel like that.

heleninahandcart Mon 19-Sep-11 18:34:07

One day I will be arrested for taking a wax strip to my neighbours upper lip. I have been within an arms reach of telling her to go get it done blush

Ha. I DARE you.

That reminds me of sitting in church when I was a little girl, with my friend. We would sit forward on our seats and stroke the fur hat of the little old lady in the pew in front of us.

I wanted to tell my boss she's a cunt but I thought better of it.
