Hi, just making a sunday roast - we used to buy yorkies but my DD started to notice and got upset when she couldnt have one :( so I was just wondering if there is a decent recipe for milk/egg/nut free yorshires? i dont have any egg replacer, have never had decent results with it so dont bother to buy it anymore.

Thanks in advance if anyone is around...if not then I can try any suggestions next time! :)

Is it actually possible? Eggs are what makes Yorkies rise. Happy to be corrected if wrong though.

Although saying that, there are recipes out there for egg free YPs - here, though I can't see how they will puff up.

Thanks selks - i had tried the first one already, purely because I use this resipe, or very similar, to make pancakes, but they didnt rice and were greesy and gooey but I think maybe I didnt heat the oil long enough so going to give it another go now...I dont have yogurt for the other one but will try it next time :)

I have done one with grated potato which worked really well, it was free from wheat as well. it was in a book, will post it when I'm able, but if it's online already you might find it? child in question ate 7! and my non free from Yorkie loving dd liked them too.

Ooooh Toddy I'd appreciate your recipe too if you get a chance. Have a bangers in gravy recipe for the slow cooker which could really do with a Yorkshire pud :-)

hi, have done a name change just to not be boring, Todd means Fox, so it's still me! LOL.

Here's the recipe I've used before.
sunflower oil for cooking
1 cup gluten/wheat free flour
5 ml/1 tsp xanthum gum
a good pinch of salt
75g/3oz potatoes, peeled and grated
150ml/ quarter pint/2 thirds cup dairy free milk
same amount of water.

Preheat oven at 200 deg, gas 6, fan oven 180.
Put a little oil in the 12 sections of a muffin tin and place in oven.
Sift flour, gum, baking powder and salt into a bowl.
Add grated potato and half the milk and water. Beat well until blended. Stir in remaining milk and water.
When oil is sizzling hot, spoon batter into the sections of the tin. Cook towards the top of the oven for 25 mins until risen, crisp and golden.

If you are not needing to use wheat free flour, use plain flour and leave out the xanthum gum.

The recipe is from the excellent "your allergy free diet plan for babies and children" by carolyn humphries.
