Dd is 9mo and thriving.
She has been ff since 3wks on aptamil and now hipp stage 3 milk. She's always been a sicky baby in that she has always brought up milk. I presumed this was to do with her large appetite, the fast speed she drinks at, her tongue tie which keeps reattaching.
We started weaning at 6mo and a while ago I noticed she would wake at night with what seemed like a tummy ache if she had yoghurt at dinner.
I cut out yoghurt and the tummy aches stopped.
Any thoughts?
I'm tempted to try it again but will be waiting till the rest of us have got over our stomach bugs.
I devloped lactose intolerance as an adult, yet never had any difficulties with yogurt or hard cheeses. I think that the lactose in these foods is broken down by the fermentation.
Two of my dc, who were ebf'd, developed very bad tummy upsets when I started them on ordinary milk. They, too, appeared to have no problems with yogurt and hard cheese, so I assumed that they had lactose inolerance. I did not cut out dairy, just fed them with the same restrictions I imposed upon myself - no milk to drink and minimal unfermented milk products. They were both sicky, windy and refluxy, and had mild eczema. One also had mild asthma and hearing problems.
When one was 5y and the other 18m I cut out all dairy products from my and their diets. Within days all the stomach problems improved and the eczema cleared up within weeks. The asthma and hearing problems took longer, but they, too, are completely gone. (Of course, these might have cleared up on their own, children do grow out of asthma and hearing problems.)
I think they actually have milk protein intolerance.
