Books about adoption for a family with birth children

(7 Posts)

HI there, can anyone recommend a good book about adopting for a family who already have birth children? I've looked on amazon but not sure what to search for. Thanks.

I have a birth child and an adopted child, and I have to say I haven't come across any book like that. Sorry!

I have various books that reflect different aspects of my children's life: books about adoption, books about having two mummies, books about being in a multi-racial family. Nothing that encapsulates the lot - maybe I should write it, though I suspect it's a niche market grin

Hi Hester, I'm actually quite surprised there isn't anything as it can't be that uncommon to adopt after having birth children, can it? I might have to suggest it to whoever publishes books about adoption, just for me!

My Library has a small selection of books on this subject, for children in a special "parenting" collection. They could be worth a try and could search the database for suitable titles.

Candytuft63 thanks for the suggestion, I'll check it out.

Kayano I'll have to go through the experience first, and then maybe I will! I'd love to write a book!

Hi I know this is late but I read a book called 'When Daisy Met Tommy' which is a diary of a family with a birth daughter adopting a little boy. I have also read 'Adoption Undone' which in a way is a what not to do when adopting after birth children as the adoption breaks down. A difficult read but I learnt alot from it.
