My husband and I are British nationals living in China, in Novemeber 2011 we will meet all the adoption requirements for adoption in China. Does anyone have any advice on how to get started and who to submit our paperwork to.

Thanks in advance.

I believe the china centre of adoption affairs have a domestic adoption department.

Good luck

Hi aktht

When you say you will meet all the adoption requirements, do you mean you have gone through the homestudy process in the UK or are you going through a domestic adoption route because you are living in China?

Post this on the Rumor queen website. There are a few people there that have adopted while living in China. Best of luck.

Just browsing the site and saw your post. So signed up to let you know that we just completed the adoption of our daughter last summer here in China. Have lists of documents, contacts etc necessary. We live in China also and although we went through the French system for the home study etc, the basic docs should be similar for the Chinese authorities. Not yet familar with the workings of Mumsnet but happy to share info with you.

We're currently waiting for our daughter while living in Shanghai - feel free to pm me if I can help. I found there was very little information when I started the process (as recently as last year it wasn't even possible for British people in China so not surprising that there isn't a lot of info!) but the British Embassy were very helpful and I'd be very happy to share info that i have. I found that it was actually a lot more straightforward than I expected it to be!!

My wife and I are interested in this thread as we are living in China and want to start the adoption process, so it would be great to have some information to start with. Can you help.
