Is this the family they have found but not the baby yet?

MaireadMcSweeney · 01/03/2023 16:25

Mumsnet will delete this. The parents have been arrested and they don't allow speculation on ongoing police investigations.

Nimbostratus100 · 01/03/2023 16:26

They have been charged with manslaughter 😥

Nimbostratus100 · 01/03/2023 16:27

sorry, they have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter, - not charged

Was expecting an update by now :(

Thread one is still alive and kicking at nearly 1000 posts. We're allowed to talk about things in the news just not make false claims etc

soleilblue · 01/03/2023 16:32

Not really any point speculating anyway

SpinningFloppa · 01/03/2023 16:33

they went to a food bank a week ago without the baby, so seems it hasn’t been with them for a while. I’m surprised they risked going to a food bank must have been very desperate.

BluebellBlueballs · 01/03/2023 16:37

News that they have found baby stuff (blanket/wipes) in the woods near where they were found along with camping equipment but of course it could come from someone else.

Strange place to change a nappy if it's not them...

picklemewalnuts · 01/03/2023 16:38

How desperately sad. I'm sure we'll eventually get some kind of explanation. There are so many strange things about this case- not as in mysterious, tin hat conspiracy, just unusual. How they managed for so long, and so on. The ways they had access to money.

They were very unlucky, with their new car breaking down then catching fire with their belongings in it, after she'd given birth in it. The news said it was a spontaneous electrical fire, cos I'd assumed they'd done it to cover up her labour.

Very unfortunate. And of course that poor baby.

Docmartinez · 01/03/2023 16:41

There are two other threads running. This is getting ghoulish.

liveforsummer · 01/03/2023 16:54

Ghoulish? To discuss a current news event?!

It isn't "goulish" we are mostly mums, we care desperately about that little mite, and would do anything to protect and save him/her, but we can't and have nothing to do with the agitation and distress we feel except express it to each other - which we are doing.

Healthiest way to respond

I am sure I am not the only one who has cried for the poor little thing

It would be even more ghoulish if people weren’t interested or concerned enough.

Sometimes I come on here and feel like an emotionless weirdo. No disrepect to you Nim I just don't relate to this at all. Even with the NB threads I was curious and empathised for her kids but not upset as such.

picklemewalnuts · 01/03/2023 17:18

There's a spectrum, @OneFrenchEgg !

I can't watch the news at all- it's too distressing. I can't watch Titanic because it's two hours of watching people drown. It's like I can't have 'separate', rational empathy I have to actually feel it.

I'm at one end of normal, you are nearer the other!

Hartlebury · 01/03/2023 17:19

@OneFrenchEgg

You're not the only one. I haven't ever cried over a news story or anything similar. I just don't process information that way.

OneFrenchEgg · 01/03/2023 17:20

Well that is a relief both of you, I'm often a bit thrown at being so at odds. No shade to anyone who is more in tune with their emotional responses to the news.

well, it is going to depend on your personal circumstances, isn't it - I have a precious little nephew born the same week

OneFrenchEgg · 01/03/2023 17:27

Congratulations on your new nephew, hope he is doing well.
It's more any thread really regardless of whether it's relevant to me - I think I'm missing a gene somewhere !

Not many news stories reduce me to tears. The boys that drowned in the frozen lake really really upset me.

Emdubz · 01/03/2023 18:26

BBC just said significant update expected in next half hour.

Crumpetdisappointment · 01/03/2023 18:28

i think a picture showed her with red hair
and tbh not everybody has been following the case - as regards community fridge/pantry mentioned upthread
