So far we have a request for a small pitcher plant . . . Confused However I suspect something a little more substantial would be gratefully received on Xmas day Grin

Male or female? So far DS has mentioned a Scalextric set and clothes! Xmas Confused

Mine wants a laptop. Which leaves little spare cash for extras but she'll probably get clothes, cosmetics and stationary from her grandparents.

Mine wants iTunes vouchers, money and earrings (she recently got her ears pierced).
Apparently she doesn't need to tell me what she wants as I always seem to know (probably because she normally drops hints for months beforehand - but not this year!!)

It's DD's 14th birthday next week, and her wish list included a very long list of expensive brand make-up, a portable record-player (one of the little retro-looking pastel-coloured ones which probably sound very tinny but look cool) and some vinyl to play on it, art materials, various DVDs, lots of books/manga, and a tartan scarf, preferably from the Doc Marten shop.

At the same age DS was very hard to buy for, and he could only ever come up with a few CDs or DVDs he wanted, or sometimes an upgrade to his iPod or similar. I think that might have been the year I gave him a bass guitar, but the band he and his friends formed didn't last very long...

So far I have the new maze runner book, on the list.

DD, but I reckon (make-up apart on the whole) there's not much difference in wants at this age.

She doesn't wear make-up, only listens to music via youtube - clothes are a possible but they have to be the right clothes Grin (and sadly she doesn't like specific brands, which would make it easier if pricey!).

We have a lego NXT robotics set which is actually mine Blush but I suspect may come out again getting into autumn, so some extra bits & pieces for that might be nice stocking fillers, it's all ebay 2nd hand so cheap enough.

My 14yo DD (not exhaustive) includes:

Make-Up (Kat Von D / Urban Decay/ Tarte. )
Office Chelsea Boots
Earrings
New piercing
Lush products
Gift Voucher (TopShop/ Victoria Secret Pink)
Trip to London to pootle round shops and have naice tea out Xmas Grin

I would like the naice tea, 70 Grin The Doc Marten shop looks very desirable, exexpat - I've been pondering a pair of DMs, just need to decide whether dd's feet not havingt grown for 2.5 years means it's safe to buy expensive footwear, or whether instead it means they're bound to grow in the next few months!

DD got her first pair of DM boots about this time last year - she hit size 7 in junior school and hadn't grown since, so I thought the investment was worth it. I ended up getting myself my first pair of DM shoes in about 25 years too...

Sadik · 13/10/2016 20:48

She's currently only a size 3, so I reckon they might still grow (and most likely about 2 weeks after an expensive shoe purchase . . .).

DD (13) is getting a new iPhone. She's currently on my old one, and I'm upgrading soon, so she's asked if she could have my current one for Christmas. However, when we looked at contracts, if we pay most up front, it's not that much more to get her her own phone, so we're getting her that, and DD2 will have my current phone.

That will probably be her only decent present though. We got her tickets to see the gymnastics next year and then she'll have bits. She's not into clothes or makeup or music or anything else teenagers normally like to waste their money on, so I think it'll be just a few big presents from us this year.

DD has yet to be converted to the glories of nice undies - but she definitely needs some new pjs (even if she wouldn't admit it), so I can add some cosy pjs & furry socks to my list.

I wish they sold a box set of all the Bake-off series on DVD, but sadly (why? surely it's an obvious marketing opportunity?) such a thing doesn't seem to exist. I might get her series 3 (she started watching at series 4) on amazon download, but it's not really so easy to wrap!

My 16yo son wants a camera (he's doing photography A Level) and a Nandos voucher. Last year he asked for a sleeping bag, a bergen and some army boots for cadets. I expect he will be asking for aftershave nearer to the day too, as he hasn't got very much left, but he has a little part time job so he may be buying his own.

Sadik I found my DD a pack of black Bamboo socks on Amazon, she absolutely loves them & reckons that they are the softest, most comfortable socks she has ever owned

Mine is getting bath bomb making sets, perfume making sets and things like that and she wants goth clothes (I have been emailed a list) or these weird creepy Japanese doll things that she likes. She will also get her Guinness WR and Ripleys annuals that she gets every year! My dd1 has rather unusual tastes!

No biggie gift this year.

RockinHippy dd loves bamboo socks, but also those really super fuzzy ones that come in the shops at Christmas.

I think at this age unless they have a specific 'big' want like a phone, small things are the way forwards. I've just seen there's a new Dark Eden book out so I'll add that to my list. Stocking will be socks, some Faith in nature shower gel, that sort of thing.

There is one Cyberdog hoodie I know she'd really like but sadly it's totally out of stock in all sizes black, which is the colour she wants, so I suspect it's on the way to being dropped.
