Does anyone know of a cheese that would taste nice eaten with Christmas fruit cake? It is a fruit cake without icing, I just feel it would taste nicer eaten with a bit of cheese.
Wensleydale,Lancashire or Caerphilly equally gorgeous-not blue cheese or soft cheese.
White Stilton is nice too.I'd avoid anything with fruit in it.

FIL used to eat it with cheshire. Bloody odd if you ask me. I can see how the acidity cuts across the richness of the fruit but seriously I prefer my Christmas cake with a cup of tea and my cheese with a cracker or an oatcake.
I've bought a piece of Wendsleygale today to have with my cake .No marzipan or icing on it this year.
I had thin sliced crumbly cheese with fruit cake in York a few years back and it was lush.
Pish- that should be Wendsley*d*ale
(still don't know if my spelling is right)

Cheshire is good with fruitcake, it has a similar texture to wensleydale (as does caerphilly or a mild lancashire)
