So i have no money this year and thought i might make people presents instead. I am fairly handy with the old sewing machine and the things i am thinking of making include aprons, lunch bags, shopping bags, table mats and other such stuff.
Would you mind getting stuff like this?

I would LOVE to get stuff like that - particularly as I cannot sew and am not particularly creative- it all seems very impressive that other people can and do these kinds of things. I'd say your gift receiver's would be thrilled

Aprons, no. I never wear one.

Aprons for the kids - they are between child and adult size, I too could do with another

Shopping bags, yep would get used.

Is love a shopping bag. I particularly like the ones that fold down small to fit in your pocket / bag.
I never get handmade gifts, but sometimes give them as also quite good on the sewing machine. I have in mind oven gloves and luggage tags (good for men!) I have a link to a pattern for the tags if you'd like it.

Yes, a shopping bag that you could fold and put in a handbag would be a winner!
I have a lovely changing mat that someone made DD and a matching laundry bag.

Ooh yes- a friend of mine made the DDs matching little bags and some gorgeous bunting for their bedroom as birthday presents. I am very of her new-found sewing skills!

I did this last year and the kinds of presents that went down well (I think?!) were the Christmassy placemats and coasters, a Christmassy table runner, bags, personalised cushions, crayon rolls (depends on age of recipients I guess) and homemade fudge/chocs etc

Word of warning, one of my sisters was not appreciative at all of homemade presents

Cushion covers would be my choice, or a nice largish bag to stop my knitting strangling my purse.

I'd love all foodstuffs,bunting,crochet blanket or cushion covers,a warm fleecy snood each for the kids,or anything Christmas themed such as placemats.

I think homemade presents are great. Two mums made presents for dd and I was thrilled that they'd gone to the trouble and she loved them. They didn't need to do anything for her.

I'd love housey type stuff if anyone made stuff for me.

I really want a snood each for the kids and now I've realised I can ask my DM who is very clever with needle and thread to make them one each.

Yes I'd love (I have a MIL who's into patchwork and sewing so I have received most of these at some point...): shopping bags - esp ones you can wear over the shoulder, or which are a bit roomier, or ones that come with integral fold-away pocket. Table mats, sturdy oven gloves... matching big and small aprons went down well in this house, we love cooking together!
I'm not so keen on cushions covers - you'd have to get the style right unless they're Christmassy or kiddie ones.
I'd love a tablecloth with 6-8 matching napkins, to fit my dining table... chrisstmassy or otherwise. Table runners I have little use for.
Personalised crayon rolls or robust pencil cases, those maybe slightly larger than shop-bought for easier use would go down well with the kids.

Something my DDs love is their 'quillows' - patchwork-backed fleeces that can be folded into the built-in pouch to make a pillow instead. Handy for trips in the car too.

Personally - no scarves I already have more than I could ever wear - most knitted my MIL :-)

And yes, do choose your recipients with care - there are people who just don't appreciate the amount of work that goes into one of thee and that it's not a 'cheapskate option'...

If you can stretch to this home made wheat bags are a doddle to make (but make sure that people have microwaves!)

Sewn stuff a definite yes - shopping tote, apron, pinafore for dd, bunting for dcs all good. My mum is going to make dd2 one of those over the kitchen table playhouse thingies, I can't wait .

I like the things you mentioned. My son's gf made me a holder for plastic bags like this, I really like it, and frees up a drawer
I also like tea towels with ties I can tie to the oven door, so people don't dry their hands on my actual tea towels.

I'm making a few people handwarmers, quite easy and you fill them with rice. 30secs in the microwave and they keep warm for 20/30 minutes.
