Got a leaflet through yesterday.
Never bought anything christmassy from there, our lidl is quite new. Any suggestions of what to buy?
I cannot find the christmas stuff on their online page. I have checked all their possible online brochures but no luck. Lidl is not close to where we live so we have to check things we want to buy online.
I'm already excited! Do you mean clear cellophane or do they do colours?
I agree withMsElleTow the Delice Christmas puddings last year were lovely. Very moist and full of fruit and nuts. I think they are £3.60 this year. I also got some cards from the last year. the were really thick card.Bought some ribbons too with Ho Ho Ho and scandi style lovehearts on.
Got my Mum some florentines from Aldi .She said they were very nice. I saw the orange christmas pudding that's come out high in the taste tests in our Aldi last week.(in Good Housekeeping)
I think different stores have different things, ours had no cellophane. Lots of ribbon, bows and paper though.
I bought
A chocolate Santa for DS's stocking
Some cherry liqueur chocolates for the monster in law
Some mini stollen (looking forward to trying these)
Rum and raisin mincemeat
Guinness whole grain mustard
There were lots more things but I'm trying not to go mad until pay day.
Also bought my usuals, olive oil, fruit, chocolate for the Xmas rocky road...
They have some frozen unbaked croissants too which I got for a nice breakfast with homemade jam!
Isn't the cellophane see through? What do you use it for ? I want some.
Gluhwein and their cheap rum to add to it, Choccy Santas, Chocolate balls and coins for the Elves to put in the advent calendar, Stollen, Bordeaux, Germanic decorations, wrapping paper & tags, cards..the list goes on and on
YY! Love their Glühwein!
Oh god, why did I open the stollen????
They are yummy
I have already completed my quality control exercise on this year's lebkuchen. You may thank me.
I can confirm that it indeed delicious this year. It was last year too. I got the bog standard one, not even the 'posh' one. Might need to check out that one too, however...
The deluxe olive pate stuff is delicious! I recommend the chic covered nuts, gingerbread biscuits, shortbread.....wrapping paper etc...brill
HazeltheMcWitch, I know the little lebkuchen packs which are slightly different from the big packs. Big lebkuchens coated in dark chocolate and the small ones coates in some crunchy icing which I do not like. Once you buy the big ones you will see the difference.
ssaw2012 I had the big ones. I like big biscuits better than small biscuits. For obvious reasons.
Thanks mummy1986 I ran out at lunch time and bought 3 for me and 4 more for the girls in work. I didn't have time to look at food, although I would have just eaten it all tonight anyway
amary I got a clear roll, then two with Christmas patterns on. Still clear but with gold swirly pattern and silver Christmassy pattern. 5 metres each for a pound. Bargain
I've been! I was stupidly excited. We bought stollen, the fancy cellophane, Xmas cards, choc decorations, pretty straw decorations and loads if tasty choc type items. It was worth the trip. Ooh we aldi bought outdoor dairy lights for £10 to go on the big Xmas tree shaped tree by our front door which dd is now bursting with excitement about - I figured I probably won't find them cheaper. Xmas trees with fairy lights you see out and about ate dds v favourite thing about Xmas - more than the presents (wells up) he he
Do they have the gingerbread house kits this year? I like the look of the cellophane wrap too.
I did both Aldi and Lidl this morning for the Christmas bits:
In Lidl I bought:
Gluhwein
£12.99 Champagne (Which best buy) - Sold out early last year.
Tree chocs
Choc santa for stocking
Choc coins also for stocking
Choc balls for advent calender
lebkuchen
Mini stollen
Panettone - Also sold out before Christmas last year in my area.
The Grinch!
Some Traditional looking decorations
Some very non traditional Christmas window stickers for dd's bedroom
Festive Jelly sweets - Really lovely shapes and colours which is surprising. DC will like choosing which shape they want.
In Aldi I bought:
Big choc reindeer - for stockings (to go with Santa)
Gingerbread house
I also bought the 99p choc truffles. Oh good god I will never lose any baby weight!!!!! Amazing! If I could not eat them for long enough I will be serving/giving these at Xmas but my post baby body dictates I can't go near lidi again until frankly, next Xmas!
If you arnt trying to lose weight but some white choc ones imediately.
I buy the cellophane to wrap homemade goodies like gingerbread and rocky road to give to clients as gifts. I sometimes wrap jars of chutney or chilli jam in it too. Has anyone seen the gingerbread houses in Lidl this year? We don't have Aldi here yet. I'm after one this year I didn't get the Ikea one it looked rubbish.
Um, I've eaten my Lidl mini stollens and how have to get some more for Christmas

Selks, snap. I had to check they were ok.
Of course. All in the name of quality control
Love this thread. I'm off to Lidl today to see what our local store has in the way of Christmas goodies. Any suggestions for non Christmassy stuff to stock up on while I'm there?
I always buy olive oil, tomato puree, tins of corned beef in fact lots of tinned stuff is good. Ours has an instore bakery which is good. The wine is good too and I've bought the meat which is ok.
Shall have to have a look, DH is very fond of L' <no way can my dyslexic brain spell it> continental biscuit things.
I like stollen and DDs love choc tree decorations.
