With fond memories of many a happy game of Guess Who in my younger days, I arranged for Santa to bring it to my DD this year.

Imagine my disapointment (and my DD's disappointment) when I realised that it has been turned into the cheapest bit of old tat going. There must be about 2p worth of plastic used to make it and the crappy new sandwich-board design. Shame on you, Hasbro

Yup I agree, I also had it as a child and enjoyed many yrs playing with it, sister bought it for dcs last xmas and as you say the quality is piss poor now. It seems impossible to get bk in the box and the doors constantly come off.

I agree. It just falls apart. Definitely on the 'worst game' list.

Oh, that's a shame. Could you find a secondhand old-school version, say on Ebay or in a 2nd hand shop instead?

Will keep this in mind, as I had been considering buying it for my 2 for xmas, but didn't because the littlest is too little yet. Thanks for the head's up.

I suffered this disappointment too.

We bought the elf version and it's so shoddy that it's impossible to play. It's going back for an exchange as it's certainly not fit for purpose.

Do not under any circumstances get the Pokemon version. We attempted it once and then it had a trip to the tip. That was about 3 years ago and I am still .

We looked at the Pokemon version for DD as she is Pokemon mad. However, I read that the quality was poor and it was impossible to distinguish between the Pokemon (well, it would be anyway for me, but I mean even for DD) when trying to guess something. "Does it have a tail?" "errr, yes, they all do", that kind of thing.
So I left it in abeyance - glad I did now!
Some friends of ours had the newer version of guess who and I was shocked at the cheap quality. Worth about £2.95 at best.

Send it back and complain, it's the only way to let these companies know that their crap quality is not acceptable

We couldn't build the bloody thing. The plastic was all crappy and the little pictures wouldn't stay in.

I remember it as being fab, but then so were Buckaroo and Kerplunk and they don't seem the same now.

DD had the electronic version for Christmas and we've been playing it most of the afternoon.

It has frames that pull down and you insert a whole card behind them so there are no little bits of card to mess about with or lose. There are different boards - people, strange people, children, monsters, animals and household objects which makes it more interesting, plus a timer option and electronic 'yes' and 'no' buttons with a variety of weird and wonderful noises.

Also a scoring slide on each board, and it opens up like a sandwich board, so you each have your own side and it folds up like a case for storage.

I'm not entirely sure it's worth £20 tbh, but it is very good and clearly much better than the basic version - if you can get it the sale for £15 or less I'd say it's probably worth it.

Asda's version isn't crappy and is cheaper too - we love it!

Agree with DumSpiro, the electronic version is much better.

They've done the same to Hungry Hippos (cheap plastic tat)

Wilko's own version is also not too crappy and cheaper

and mousetrap/buckeroo - you breathe on them and they collapse

We had the Guess Who Extra game last Christmas & it was fine! In fact it was an unexpected hit as it was a last-minute for the whole family type purchase & dd2 wanted to play it loads!

The new version is shoddy - the "board" is not big enough so the cards all overlap when they are flat so you cannot move them up again etc. It went to the charity shop pretty fast

The travel version is actually better than the proper version so we play that now.

Mousetrap is something else - takes hours to set up then doesn;t actually work!

2 bits of plastic to put together and then 2 bits of cardboard to slide in behind the doors. We haven't had any problems with it. Fits together, you can see all the pictures, nothing falls off or out, fits back in the box.

But if you look at that link, the first two pictures show a completely different version of the game to the second two pictures. We have the first sort. Maybe it is the second sort that doesn't work?
