In-house crèche + outdoor hot tub = heaven

Mumsnet Best: Chalet la Sonnaille, Chatel

"First time we'd left our son with anyone other than grandparents so I was a little apprehensive, but I couldn't have been happier with the care he received - meaning we could concentrate on enjoying the excellent skiing, food and wine!

"We loved the flexibility of the childcare; some days we came back early to spend some time with our son in the afternoon, and on others we enjoyed some après ski."

To hell with the budget: bonus-blowing luxury

Mumsnet Best: Chalet Neuf du Tenne, Chatel

"We were met at the airport, so no need to find a hire car - and they had all the car seats ready for us. Children's tea was perfect, and the babysitting service meant we could all get out and about without worrying about the little ones.

"The staff were very informative, and made it a stress-free holiday. A bit like Mary Poppins - practically perfect in every way!"

Personal chef, crackling fires - and top-notch childcare

Mumsnet Best: Hotel Au Coin du Feu, Morzine - Chillypowder

"The nannies were fantastic - my usually clingy two-year-old was happy to be left every morning without the slightest objection, and everyday they took them out on a different excursion, the highlight of which was a horse and sleigh ride.

"My four-year-old had an amazing time and was devastated to leave."

So amazing, it'll potentially ruin all future ski hols

Chalet La Marquise, Sainte Foy

"I have to say that there's not one part of the childcare provided that I would change. The nannies were lovely and really put us at ease, as I normally find it hard to leave our kids."

Limited budget? No problem...

Book off-peak for a reasonably priced ski school package - and cake

Mumsnet Best: Connickski La Chaumiere, Chatel

"We usually go skiing with family, one of us staying behind to mind four kids, last year we decided to do something different. We went with an eight-month-old and a four-year-old.

"Connickski is fantastic we are going again this year and can't see ourselves going anywhere else."

Brilliant all-in package, and an ace kids' snow club to boot

Le Mariandre, Alpe D'Huez – Ski Esprit

"Each morning we left our 18-month-old in the care of a kind, really attentive staff member, based in the small hotel nursery. In the morning they'd go out and about in the resort (on the bus, to the park etc), have a hot lunch and let them have a good nap in an adapted hotel room, commandeered as the nursery sleep room, followed by more fun in the afternoon."

Yer actual bargain: £500 per person, peak season

Chalet Chocolat, La Tania - Ski Magic

"Boots and skis delivered to the chalet, easy flight transfers with travel seats, amazing food for both children and adults, wonderful location, free wine with the meals... and such, such good value.

"We first went last year when we had a one-year-old with severe allergies, they dealt with him amazingly and we can't wait for him to get even more from the holiday this time."
