Things to do in Scotland

Things to do in Dundee & Angus

With miles of beautiful coastline to the south and mountains to the north, Angus is a good place to explore the great outdoors, but there are lots of historical attractions here too including Broughty Castle on the river Tay and Glamis Castle, with its programme of summer events and nature trails for families. For a sea adventure, sail out to see the Bell Rock Lighthouse.

Things to do in Edinburgh

Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland, and its population swells massively in August as the Edinburgh Festival and equally exciting Fringe come to town. Check out the Pleasance Kidszone, with its family shows and babysitting services, and the Edinburgh Book Festival for special events.

Things to do in Fife

Just the other side of the Firth of Forth across the Forth Road Bridge from Edinburgh lies lowland Fife. With a beautiful coastline and lots of opportunities for action-packed countryside pursuits, it's a great place to head in a summer like this one. Start with the outdoor adventureland at Clunykids or spot an osprey at the RSPB Loch Leven Nature Reserve.

Things to do in Glasgow

Glasgow has transformed itself from being the once mighty powerhouse of industrial Britain to a centre for commerce, tourism, and culture. It has become one of the top destinations in the British Isles for short breaks, and visitors will find a revitalised city centre, the best shopping outside London, excellent parks and museums (most of which are free), and easy access to the Highlands and Islands.
