It's October and half-term is looming, which means so is Halloween, so we've selected these 10 great Halloween activities for the autumn break.

Halloween Film Workshop, Kent
Working with professional actors and crew, kids will star as zombies in a special Halloween movie. Ravensbridge Film is running a workshop for children, where they'll learn about film-making alongside all the fun of dressing up as the living dead. 31 October
A Spooky Night at the Museum, Newcastle
The Discovery Museum in Newcastle will be opening after dark on Halloween with a Halloween-themed circus, adventure trail, and other spooky activities. 31 October
Fright Night, Chelmsford
With fire dancers, giant werewolves, fireworks, and a Halloween trail through Hylands House gardens, Fright Night sounds like a great way to celebrate this spooky time of year. 30 - 31 October
Halloween Entertainment at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire
Blenheim Palace has something on every day of Half Term, so you can take your pick from an array of exciting activities in a memorable setting. Activities include spooky tours of the Palace, a 'Ghost and Goblins' Halloween Hunt in the maze, and Halloween pottery making.

Halloween Wax Hands Workshop, London - Putney
Something different to the essential pumpkin carving of the season, this workshop offers children a novel way to get creative. Dipping their hands into warm wax, they can make moulds and then decorate them with a spooky Halloween theme. 29 October
Illuminating York Festival, York
The Illuminating York Festival, in one of the UK's spookiest cities, combines city-wide light shows with fringe events in a variety of locations. Such events include trick or treat chocolate tasting at York's Chocolate Story. 30 October - 2 November
Cookery Doodle Doo Halloween Cooking, Brighton
Combining Halloween with a holiday club, where the children will also pick up some skills, Cookery Doodle Doo will keep them busy all day creating edible but healthy Halloween masterpieces. These include green pasta worms and Anti-Vampire Hummus. 31 October
Halloween SpecialGhost Walk, Poole
Bring your own lanterns to join the spine-tingling ghost walk through the city and hear the many haunting stories of Poole's past. 26 October
Monster Mayhem Animation Workshop, London - Greenwich
