Hi all.
I have suffered with mental health issues since my early teens (anxiety and depression) Almost 28 now and am in a better place with work and life in general. I have tried to come off citalopram gradual this past year but have had to go on sertraline. (Currently TTC) Counsellor has suggested a less stressful job for me-easy! Ha. I have always had stressful jobs. I really enjoy my current job but struggle at the moment with the uncertainty of colleagues and what they will do. Can anyone suggest stay at home work or something where I can keep to myself more?
Unfortunately I don't drive. I have lots of experience working with children, individuals with mental health and/or additional needs and am currently a healthcare assistant.
Thank you in advance.

How about a learning assistant in a special needs school?

Yes!
I dont mind change its staff I'm struggling with. Not knowing who I will work with and some of them are not very kind. Manager cant really do alot as there are like 150 workers where I am. They have been very understanding though.

A friend of mine is a HCA in an outpatient clinic and the work is to a set routine every day - would that suit?

I think as you enjoy your current job you don't need to change career. Would you consider bringing up the impact of the uncertainty on your mental health with your manager? Or look for another HCA role in a more stable environment. Sorry I don't know much about what you do but aren't there different wards or specialisms that are more predictable?

Something you are in control of then which is repetitive and samey every day.

Stacking shelves in Tesco? Boring. Repetitive. You work alone and can wear headphones as long as they are not loud and don’t prevent you hearing colleagues shouting or a fire alarm etc.

Opening mail in a mailroom and putting into pigeon holes.

Making something repetitive on a production line.

What do you like? What are your strengths? Have you tried voluntary work to see if that will give you confidence? All the big charities are well geared up for all sorts of abilities and disabilities.

I've been fine with past jobs. Currently experiencing high anxiety and finding lack of routine stressful and not knowing what I will be doing of a day or where I will be or who I will be with hard.

I suppose it depends on what you personally find stressful.

For instance, I find being under occupied very stressful, but being very busy is not stressful at all for me.

What is it about your current/previous jobs that you have found stressful?
