Do you consider 35 or 37.5 hours per week to be standard in an office job?

What is now considered standard, or what is your experience/expectation when you see a Full Time office job advertised?

I would say anything from 35-40 was standard full time; though over 30 is considered full rather than part time

This. I am contracted for 40 hours, with lunchbreaks not paid, but other places have different expectations.

Standard day for me is 0800 - 1600 with 36 minutes unpaid for lunch, so 37 hours.
In reality I do about 0720 - 1600 minimum, often a few hours more in the evening and almost always work through lunch. We can take extra worked as TOIL or sometimes paid overtime when available apart from the lunch break - that is always deducted.

Where I work its 37.5 as full time and anything below this is classed as part time.

Full time where I work is 35 hours. 9-5 or similar like 8-4 with am unpaid hour for lunch. I’ve worked in quite a few places and only one was 37.5 hours (9:30-6).

My husband’s work is 9-5 with 30 mins for lunch so 37.5 hours. I think everywhere else he’s ever worked was 35 hours, 9-5.

Both private sector.

My full time hours were 9.00-2.40 with 40 mins of breaks. So 25 contact hours as a full time teacher. But now I work part time (job share) so I am paid for 12.5 hours.

It used to be 35 hours as a standard but this has largely moved to 37.5. When I was young they used to talk about a future with short working hours but in fact, for office work at least, hours have increased.

How about 8am to 6.30pm and no lunch or tea break?

I've worked 35 hrs which was 9 to 5 with an hour unpaid lunch. And also 37 hrs where hours were flexible. I preferred the 37 hours really because I could have a shorter lunch break. It depends who you work for.

Anything from 35-40 hrs in our place depending on when you started or where you started.

If you started on a production site and moved to a central office based role it would be 40 hrs. If you were recruited directly into the same office the contract was 37.5hrs. New recruits are 35 hrs.

When I joined the civil service in 1983 we had to work 7hrs 12 minutes a day, so 36 hours a week. In practice most people did a long day once a week or shaved 13 mins off their lunch hour.
But woe betide if you didn't work your 13 minutes in one way or another

Mine is a charity and my official hours are 8am-4pm with half hour lunch.

I would say 9-5 Mon-Fri. It depends if breaks and counted and how long you get (a hour or half an hour). So. it varies by location, but generally it would be between those hours, and between 35-40 hours.
