Career with children- starting from scratch at 31?

I’m 31 with a nearly 4 year old and a 5 month old. We are always making things, playing, role play, doing stories and today it occurred to me I would love to do this for a job. I have no relevant qualifications but have started looking into level 2 childcare courses online.

Anyone done this at an older age? Or have any suggestions for other careers where I can be creative with children?

Don't be lured by franchises such as creation station. A friend did this and lost a lot of money, which I've heard is not unusual.

I'm looking into becoming a childminder as a career change. You don't need previous qualifications, but there are courses you would need to do to get into it. Have a look at the website Pacey. As far as I've discovered so far, it would come to about £500 including first aid course, medical certificate from your gp, etc etc.
If anyone else can give any more info, I'd appreciate it too.

You can get NVQs in playwork, you would need a placement in a school or working with kids though.
I will hopefully be changing careers to eventually going in to schools, I have managed to get a job as lunchtime supervisor in a local primary school so I can also build up experience whilst I qualify.

Most college offer good advice on courses but any placements you will need to do the donkey work.
