Maternity Pay in School

Hi all
Wondering if anyone can help. I have gained a new role at a school which is great but I was wondering if anyone knows what state schools are like for maternity? Some of my friends say they can be good but I can't see much online and don't want to ask outright but just trying to plan ahead!
