I'm in a bit of a pickle, and after some advice please.
I'm looking to leave my job I've been in for 5 years. After job hunting for ages for another HR role and getting nowhere, I had a great interview for an amazing opportunity. I received a nice, personal email shortly after from the hiring manager inviting me back, but that I'd need to complete a couple of online tests first.
The tests were verbal and non-verbal reasoning and they were horrific! I've heard nothing since, it's been 4 days. Part of me thinks if I've failed the tests used to assess my capability and I've not met the required standard, maybe the job isn't for me? But the other part of me is questioning the validity of those tests to accurately assess my capability to do the job. I thought that method of selection was pretty old school, but interested to learn people's views.
So with that in mind should I...
- Forget it and move on
Or
- Write an email to the hiring manager asking what the next step is, acknowledge my performance wasn't great on the tests, and offer to complete another task that may better assess my capability for the role.
Thanks in advance...
